Wooden HK Grip Question...

Noticed an advertised 1900 DWM American Eagle luger on a web site with what looks like a pair of woodend HK grips.

I have not seen HK wooden grips in person, but from my reading recall they are "flat" in profile and have flat "diamonds" as part of their checkering.

Can you HK experts let me know what you think of the grips on the luger for sale ?

Thanks in advance for your help and advice...

Pete, The pictured grips appear to be proper DWM grips to me. DWMs will have a wider flat area than the later Mausers and to my knowledge, KH never made any for grip safety lugers. Tom H.

And like so many carelessly removed left grips, it has the safety lever chip. Be careful out there.

Thanks, Tom and Johnny !!!

Tom, I thought HK made some grip safety lugers, but I think I recall (from my R. Gbison book) that these few are HK reworks of other makes...

They are DWM grips...I used to own that gun. And no, I didn't break out the chip.

Ron, was the chip broken out of the grip when you owned it, or has it happened since?

When I owned it. It is a very early 1900 American Eagle that is one of the first run examples having a Swiss proofed barrel. In fact it is the highest serial number I have encountered still having the Swiss proof. It is the one I used to bracket the serial number range for Swiss proofed barrel 1900 AEs at approximately 2000 to 2200. Haven't found or heard of any outside that range. Except for the grip, it is in pretty good shape. I picked it up reasonably and used it later in a trade. I didn't feel too badly about losing it since I have an earlier one in better condition.

Hey Ron !

I will take any of the Ron Wood rejects in a heart-beat...

If you have an old, tired, ugly Dutch KOL, let me know...

Regards,

Pete...

Sorry Pete - no KOL. All I have is a first contract and a Vickers.
