In ref to the Star as a seal, I have been told that these markings, such as those that were marked by the Luger (DWM) manufacturer and not by the US Gov't.

The ones with Persian markings, and other countries, were marked as a marketing tool and not as "Official" seals.

The seal star is identical to the star on the back of a dollar bill (EOM)

Re: 28894 Germany w/eagle on chamber

The marking found on the 1900 and 1906 American Eagles were in no way an official seal. It was nothing more than a chamber marking applied to make the pistol more appealing for the US market, and was applied at the time of manufacture. These were commercial pistols and had nothing to do with the U.S. government. Even the Test Eagles were taken from commercial production, and the chamber marking had nothing to do with the Test Trials.

Admittedly the AE marked M1900 lugers started appearing about s/n 2000, well before the US Test range of 6100, but DWM did capitalize in their advertising about the US, Swiss, Bulgarian, etc. armies USING this model, even though it may have only been for testing purposes.
