Georg Luger

Seems fitting last night that Luger had his birthday the same day that Tales of the Gun-The Luger was reairred. Don't know if it was fate, or they planned it that way. I doubt they even knew what day his birthday was on. Anyway seeing his picture on TV during the program and looking over to my computer to see the same picture of him on the Lugerforum Main page was cool as hell! I really double enjoyed the program last night! Did anybody else catch it? Ted

Didn't get to see it Ted, but I taped it.

I hope to see it this weekend.

Hello

Mr. Sabato, is there even a slightest chance of opening up a dialogue on purchasing a copy of this taped feast you have on your cassette?

you are in luck, but not how you think...

because every time it is aired on TV one of us knows and posts it. You could record it then. They air the tape several times a year.

About your request, this an extraordinarily upright forum whose members are proudly known for their scruples. I am sorry but my personal ethics would prevent me from engaging in a discussion about infringing on someone's copyright.

But here is a quote from a post by another user just last week:

"This is no doubt, old-hat for most of you on this board but, for any newbies, The History Channel will be showing the episode on the Luger next Tue. at 11 pm, next Wed. at 3 am, and next Sat. at 5 pm. It is quite interesting."

So you can record it off the air for yourself Tonight at 3AM or Next Saturday at 5 PM.

If you can't wait, the other alternative is to go to Historychannel.com and you can actually buy the tape. That way it is commercial free!

here is the URL to order the tape.

Click the link above. It is $19.95 plus shipping.

OK, thank's.

I guess this really is the only way to do this since HistoryChannel is unavailable over here in Europe, so recording the show by myself is not an option.

Re: you are in luck, but not how you think...

Guys, I got my copy by taping it myself. I taped it at the 2 hour speed and paused through every commercial. Later, I added "Tales Of The Gun, The Automatic Pistol" Some other interesting episodes are coming up on the History Channel that would make good companions to "The Luger" They are"

"The Guns Of Mauser"Tuesday, March 13, 11:00 p.m. and Wednesday, March 14th, 3:00 a.m.

"US Guns Of WWII" Tuesday March 27th, 1:00 a.m.

"Japanese Guns OF WWII" Tuesday, March 27th, 9:00 a.m."

"German Small Arms Of WWII" Thursday, March 29, 9:00 p.m. and Friday, March 30, 7:00 a.m.

All times are Eastern or Pacific.

ARTSI... make sure you get a copy...

of the right format... the NTSC tapes used in the US will not play on European equipment. You'll need PAL or SECAM.

Amazon.com sells the tape too for $19

Hey Guys if somebody doen't buy the tapes they can't afford to add new programs. I purchased a copy on the last Go around. Quality is good and no commercials.

VCR format standards

Good point DOK.

I don't know whether multistandard VCR players are common in the USA, but they are around over here in Europe. Even mid-pricerange VCR's can handle NTSC format beside the widely used PAL system.

My VCR is one of these multistandard ones, so getting a copy from US in NTSC format plays just fine. (I have one NTSC tape and it really plays just fine).

[Swerving off topic]

What NTSC format stands for?

Taping off the air... Your Right Bob But ...

I only tape off the air for convenience. I don't have a video library of commercial stuff. I just tape the stuff I don't have the time to watch until I do have the time. I seldom if ever watch something twice. The History Channel is a great resource. Probably my favorite channel. But I wouldn't worry about their profit line. They carry advertising like all networks...
