I Can't Figure This One Out
A friend has come across a 1915 DWM with grip strap markings of R.B.D.Mg.210 - no unit numbers, only the weapon number. No sear or mag safety, so it isn't a police rework. Could it be an Ersatz unit of some sort? The lower case "g" also has me puzzled...I usually associate a Mg. marking with Magdeburg.

Ron,
I am unsure, but I do have two police / unit marked lugers, that never had a sear or mag safety... Ed |
Ron,
Reichsbahn police Directorate(?) Magdeburg. George Wheeler 'Schupo' told me at one time what the D probably represented, but I have forgotten. Simpson's has the mate to it. Ron http://www.simpsonltd.com/product_in...oducts_id=1148 |
Good show Ron! I figured you would chime in with the answer.

Apparently Madgeburg was a hub for the Reichsbahn as I have owned 3 Lugers and several Mausers that had the Magdeburg mark on them.

The best interpretation I have heard is that it is from the Reichsbahn Direktion at Magdeburg. Tom is correct about Magdeburg being a rail hub. Do you know the serial number of the gun? Is it still in its original 9 mm or has it been rebarreled as a .30 cal.?

Don,
According to my friend, it is 9mm. I have asked him to try to obtain the serial number. I will let you know if he comes through. |
