Shooter Problem

I have a BYF 42 shooter that has a Sarco artillery barrel on it. It shoot great except the toggles do not completely close after each round. You have to do it by hand. Will a 40 pound Wolff main spring fix this problem? I have been shooting 124 grain Federals with 1120 fps at the muzzle. Thanks for your time and info. Chris

Chris,

Is the hold open engaging and locking the bolt open? If so, try moderate velocity 115gr ammo. Don't use +P, it will damage your luger. Lugers often don't care for hot ammo or heavy bullets.

Not sure if this can happen or not.. but I remember from a slow motion movie that the toggle bounces back a little after hitting the ramp, perhaps with that 'hot' ammunition, it bounces back to the point where firing pin gets locked up? Just a thought..

Chris, Since many new luger barrels are made short chambered (they expect the installer to do a final chamber ream for the correct headspacing, I'd check that first. Then check the recoil spring to be sure it is for a 9mm (19 to 21 turns), and finally try different ammo & mags to see if this makes a difference. Lugerdoc
