Old price list

I was going through some of my stuff and found something I hadn't seen in years, a 1990 price list for Lugers at Simpson's LTD. They had in stock 350 pistols. The prices were interesting when comparing them to today's prices as you can imagine. For example, the prices listed for Swiss Luger's hasn't appreciated much nor many of the commercial lugers. Most of the incredible increases have been in the German military proofed pistols as everyone knows, interestingly they have listed more than a few 41 and 42 byf Mausers for sale but all with walnut grips, not a "Black Widow" to be found. The WW1 and II Lugers were all listed at $500 to about $800. Fun trip down memory lane, if anyone is curious about a particular Luger price back then let me know and I will look it up.

Jim, I have a number of these and Shattucks listings, although I liked the shattuck lists because they had the full serial number in the price lists (for my Simson listings).
It is crazy to see the prices.
Your insights are very interesting and spot on I am sure. Commercials are harder to sell, mainly because folks don't know about them as much as war-time lugers.

Should have known there were old price lists floating around from dealers. Surprised me how many Lugers Simpson’s had in stock back then but they still carry a huge inventory today. I would have thought Swiss Lugers would have seen a bigger price difference but I guess it comes down to people are always more interested in collecting firearms that were potentially in a fight.

I just tossed a bunch of old Shattuck's listings about a month ago, some dating back into the early 70's. A few eye-opening prices in those for sure!
