Thanks! Bill Clinton |
Ok......
For the FIRST TIME - I am SPEECHLESS!!!! :D Like the Army issue holster in this description is completely overlooked: and this may be the only complete existing Eagle 2 rig in existance.... About the second "matched" MAG. Like the... Nevermind... If anyone wants to buy the only "other" complete 1937 HK RIG "in existance" - let me know - I'll even knock 50% off his asking price!!! |
Wouldn't it be interesting to know where these people come up with the justification for the asking price? Just who are they getting advice from? I mean seriously, There are two recent examples of Krieghoffs priced in the upper Stratosphere. Why? Jerry Burney

I am new to this scene, about a year I guess and I really do not know what to think. I have aquired several Lugers but at these prices I'm afraid it is time to quit. If people think that this is what these weapons are really worth I will sit on what I have for a few years and cash in and retire to TAHITI.

At the prices you see in the Auction sites - you don't have to retire to Tahiti. Rather - you can BUY Tahiti.. Seriously - don't let a few "numbnuts" who post stupid auctions discourage you from collecting. They are not what it's about. Just my $0.0001 John |
My God John! You did'nt but it, did you?

One of the interesting aspects of auctions is that you never know when someone will push the "buy" button, or raise their hand.
It could happen with this one. Unlikely, ........ but the odds are not zero. |
This is the "Bigger Fool" theory to the 4th power.

Seriously folks, I've been cruising the gun auction sites for some time and I cannot believe what I am seeing. I have done business with a few of the independent owners and some of the forum people and several of the bigger guns( no pun intended ) , I have found honesty and integrity in many but outright nastiness from some. I am picking and choosing carefully, however, the prices I am seeing are doing nothing to encourage what I believe to be a worthwhile hobby. Everyone likes an investment to increase, but this seems to me to have exceeded the the bounds of reason. Just my two cents worth as a newby in this hobby.

Craig,
don't take the investment angle too seriously. There is a price to pay for entertainment too. If you are a collector, then enjoying the history of the gun and just having it has certain rewards. Then there are doubts about buying and selling Lugers too. I recently found a beautiful 1914 Erfurt with a matching mag. I passed on it. But I am still wondering if I did the right thing by passing. I'll probably wonder about it for a long time. Rarely do I sell a Luger and I usually kick myself for doing it. But if you are into it just to make a quick buck then the Luger is a pricey way to do it. Big Norm |
Thanks for the good advice Norm, I don't think that I will go overboard on the investment issue. I enjoy collecting these weapons, actually, alot more than I thought I would. Like many of the forum members it is taking time for me to find what classification of Luger that I want to concentrate on. I have taken a few lumps, for me expensive ones in my enthusiasm for the hobby. I am starting to learn who I can trust and who I won't. My last post expressed my frustration in seeing the pricing of the Luger going to a point where my limited financial means will exclude me from this hobby.

cfm, I also think it depends on how excited we get in the hobby? If you are willing to wait and take your time, deals come along. Either a collector "has" to sell their collection, someone "needs" money, a deal comes along, etc.
Just take your time, keeo your ears open and deals will come along... Blayne |
