The unit mark, according to Jeff Noll's book, page 42, signifies Festungs-Maschinengewehr-Abteilung (Fortress Machine Gun Attachment), number 6, pistol number 65. The holster appears to be modified from an 1883 Reichsrevolver holster. A nice historical rig.

I wish I had the spare cash right now. I'd be running the bid up. Unfortunately that isn't in my budget at the moment....
Pete, Stop posting this stuff! You're giving me the dithers. ;) Anybody wanna buy something? |
Ron,
I know some of you folks have some nice Swiss lugers squirreled away for trader-stock... Figured if I jump started a heart or two along the way and a prospective buyer needed to free up some cash for a luger (with graffiti...), a Swiss luger might pop up for sale and get posted...:roflmao: |
Pete,
If I had a Swiss Luger. I would be e-mailing you every 5 min. right now. It's like bringing a ham sandwich to a weight watchers convention.:) |
Well...I hope a LF member nabs this one...I am even tempted but then I would have to have a Swiss cross engraved on it...somewhere...:D
|
$1175 appears to be a pretty good bid price so far. Deacon36 seems to be seriously interested. I already own two 1914 Erfurt P.08 rigs, otherwise my name would be among the bidders.
|
For those weak kneed out there, I believe that the hidden bonus is a converted Reichsrevolver holster.
|
Should this gun variation (1915) have the stock lug?
Thanks, Tony |
Tony, No. this is a 1913. The stock lugs were added later that year.
RS |
Sorry, when I looked at the picture, I thought I saw a 1915. You are correct.
Thanks |
Hammer down price at $ 1325...someone did very good !
Figure the holster is worth $ 350 minimum...a nice Erfoort luger for around $ 1K... |
Guys,
I think you (and I) missed the boat on this one, a converted Reich's revolver holster should be worth at least $600-$800 Bender estimates that only a few were made. I paid $500 for one 5 years ago, although I am easily tricked out of my money by anything Luger. I think the buyer got the Luger for shooter price. Bob M. |
Bob,
I agree. It was killing me that I couldn't afford to go after it. And now I'm really fumed!! I would have gladly gone higher on it. OH WELL, ya can't have 'em all. Ron |
Ron,
Back to the 1913...they came with and without the stock lock...does anyone know the serial number range at which the change took place ? |
Pete,
I wouldn't know, but Jan Still's Imperial Lugers states after August 4, 1913. And an estimated production of approx. 23,000. Averaged about 1900 per month. So around the 3000-3300 'a' suffix range , give or take? Ron |
On the Erfurt Stock Lug.........
I have SN 3603a manufactured without a stock lug ( but one was added later !! quite an interesting piece ) Also SN 7825a produced with a stock lug. Both P08s 1913 chamber dated... I know it's a big gap but if this small info can help...... MARC |
