Global Warming
Where's the "Global Warming" I keep hearing about. The high temperature here in the Shenandoah Valley was TWELVE FREAKING DEGREES!
|
Maybe it's here in Yuma? 72 the high today.
|
12 degrees?! That's for amateur's try -34 degrees below. That's what it was yesterday morning in my neck of the woods. My poor dog wouldn't stay outside long enough to finish his morning constitutional. Warmer today only -10. Tomorrow even warmer.

It's 8 degrees here in Alabama for the second morning in a row. I'm thinking about moving south. The ducks that normally winter here on Lake Guntersville left yesterday heading to who knows where. You are right on George. I can't stand much more global warming.
|
Now come on George. The "experts" changed the term 'Global Warming' to 'Climate Change' about 15 years ago when the earth was not warming as much as they predicted or would like.
Did not the old expert Al say the polar ice caps should have melted by now? So, the change in terminology allowed them to claim even cooling is due to global warming, aka, climate change. Trust the science people! |

We are ALL going to die one way or another anyway so I don't sweat the 'scientific predictions' from the 'experts' ... I just live as happy as I can possibly be in the time God grants me. |

Ladies and gentlemen:
Please do not conflate weather with climate. Wonky weather, stronger storms, shifting weather patterns should be no surprise, given the immense amount of energy that's been geometrically added to the global ecosystem. The ice caps and glaciers are melting, although maybe not holding precisely enough to a schedule proposed twenty years ago to suit some. |
'They' say the oceans are gonna rise considerably! I hope. if that happens, that a certain person's mansions in Martha's Vineyard and Hawaii go under.....and soon!
|
If there is anything sure about the Earth, it is that the Climate will Change.
Humans may contribute to that change, and we may even accelerate it, but regardless of that contribution it will change and always has changed. Millions of years of history, evidence of which you can read in the rocks, proves that. That doesn't mean that you need to react by taking the wealth of nations and redistribute it. It doesn't mean that you need to destroy the systems you depend upon for energy and commerce. It doesn't mean that any society needs to wallow in guilt or expectation of windfall. It does mean that it is time for rational instead of emotional thinking - and that seems to be something that is in much greater shortage than almost every other scarce resource needed in this wonderful world. In any case, may the peace of the world be with you during this season. |
A more significant chart is the human population growth from 1 billion in 1805
to just under 8 billion in 2020 Food, housing, we are witnessing a collapse in Africa with people flooding into Europe Central America flooding North Look at your house, your neighborhood and multiply the people by 8 This is happening one heck of a lot faster than the global weather is changing Maybe we should ask Al Gore how much $$ that needs to fix |

Sums it all up for me. Computers are not human because computing is not thinking. We are on our own and I believe the solutions are obvious ... the hard part - as usual - is getting everyone to agree before its too late. |

This is essentially correct. However it is the unprecedented rate of change--way beyond what the planet would do to itself naturally--that is the problem. Human activity since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution is demonstrably responsible for the higher rate of any warming. It's even possible to calculate just how much old carbon has been added to the atmosphere by our burning fossil fuels. Denying this science would be idiotic. https://skeptoid.com/episodes/4549 Quote:

Biden added to 'climate change' and air pollution when he ordered the Russian pipeline blown up! Next, he'll probably want to somehow plug up all active volcanoes! Mean while, he flys 50 miles to Delaware every weekend and of course, the huge motorcades of fossil fueled government cars!

And now we hear of widespread corruption of the scientific process often within government funded projects. Here is one example;
https://thereload.com/emails-cdc-rem...ivate-meeting/ Unfortunately, this kind of opportunistic manipulation of scientific studies has become widespread in the past two decades. https://www.science.org/content/arti...-death-penalty https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4699806/ You may hear talk of the "great reset" and associated conspiracy theories... https://imprimis.hillsdale.edu/what-is-the-great-reset/ https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/our...t-great-reset/ Many conservatives see government responses to the pandemic and climate change as part of this movement. There is compelling evidence that many of the studies are greatly flawed. The most compelling evidence is that none of the "studies" agree with each other, particularly regarding climate mechanisms. Rather than work out the issues and anomalies, and get to the scientific factual truth, the "scientists" at the regular world meetings simply agree to disagree, average the impact predictions of their studies and move on in their individual directions. This in itself is the evidence that their studies are, in essence, junk science. When other scientists cannot reproduce the results based on evidence presented by another scientist it simply is not based on fact. |
The way I see it!
I'm originally from South Dakota, and I have been in weather that had a -100 below zero wind chill factor... I moved to Arizona and in some of my adventures in the desert, I have been in 115 degree heat! The only consistant fact I came away with was this! if you stay out in this environment too long, you're going to die!!! And, I'll bet big on the fact that in 100 years forward.... The same rules will apply...
I don't believe the human impact on the climate is what the so call experts say it is? But pollution is everywhere! So, lets just start with the, "crap & junk" The renewables are on a collision course with reality, and government involvement just seals their fate.....Best, til....lat'r.....GT...:cheers: |
There are literally thousands of volcanoes on earth..35 of them are spewing smoke, ash and toxic gasses as I write this. ANY ONE of them has the potential to cough up more in a short while than all of the industrial revolution till today. IF there were global warming, seas would change levels..They have not. Statistical data that is true shows there IS change but throwing away our best source of energy and taxing us into poverty is nothing more than extortion by those in power. Control.
For those with inqusitive minds, look up Joe Rogan's podcast on cobalt. 75% of the world's known reserves is in the Congo. It is being mined by hand by slave labor. There is not enough to power even a tiny percentage of what would be needed to build electric cars. If you have anything battery powered you have slaves. Period. It's a horrifying thing to watch. We have met the enemy and he is us. |

from https://www.climate.gov/news-feature...obal-sea-level
"Global mean sea level has risen about 8–9 inches (21–24 centimeters) since 1880. The rising water level is mostly due to a combination of melt water from glaciers and ice sheets and thermal expansion of seawater as it warms.*In 2021, global mean sea level was 97 millimeters (3.8 inches) above 1993 levels, making it the highest annual average in the satellite record (1993-present). The global mean water level in the ocean rose by 0.14 inches (3.6 millimeters) per year from 2006–2015, which was 2.5 times the average rate of 0.06 inches (1.4 millimeters) per year throughout most of the twentieth century. By the end of the century, global mean sea level is likely to rise at least one foot (0.3 meters) above 2000 levels, even if greenhouse gas emissions follow a relatively low pathway in coming decades." |
So I wonder what the sea level was when Antarctica was covered in palm trees and ferns?
|
How about 8 Billion humans breathing out carbon dioxide, or does that not count?
Try the same 8 Billion cutting down trees to cook their rice tonight, any carbon impact there? No, it is only the 0.3 billion driving SUV's that cause all of this We must tax our way out of it. Of course all the tax money recipients are honest, non-corrupt, altruistic, and can balance the needs of their electorate (if elected) with the needs of the planet |
