Some pretty lugers on display at the recent (and still on-going) Reno show....

Thanks for the photos Herb. A really nice Erfurt. Early 1914 before the receiver notch. That Dutch gets my attention! The double mag pouch is a treasure all by itself. Can't quite make out the brass plate inscription on the Luger...can you provide details? Thanks. Wish I could be there.

How is the crowd at the show and what are they buying ??

Ron, does this help? Charlie, usual sparse crowd typical of recession times. Only few things sold.

Ron, an afterthought.....TE #6111 was there and sold by Mike. Exact price I don't know as it went in a trade deal.

Bill, I did see a luger target conversion on Bill Waddell's table but I didn't see the price. Most sellers are stubbornly sticking to high asking prices and could be dickered down a little but most sellers were unrealistic in my view.

The show was one of the slowest I have set up at . I offered some really nice items at very

reasonable prices and they didn't sell.

Is the "so called" factory engraved, gold plated presentation Luger legit? What was the asking price?

Mike, take a look at the second photo where the bidding range is clearly stated. As to its originality, RIA feels the provenence they have with it is adequate, but one could question it.

I noticed that von Ribbentrop luger in the RIA catalog,very nice.

It seems like there a few so-called presentation Lugers being auctioned these days.:cool:

Did you gents see this presentation luger that was made for "Sepp" Dietrich?
He started as Hitlers chauffeur and advanced to a SS General!:eek:
The gun was in a auction located in the mid-west.
Not sure if it sold.:order:

Bob, I certainly would have noticed this luger but it was NOT in their presentation case at this show.

Sorry for the confusion. That Sepp Dietrich luger was not a RIA item. It was being offered on a Proxibid auction site. I just thought it was a interesting gun with the case carved like a book.

Thanks for the additional Dutch photo. A bit of a mystery, I have never seen an ID plate stippled like that. The "K" indicates a Garrison company of Riau, but I have no idea what the VL signifies.

Also thanks for the TE info. Russ Withem had given me a heads up on that one. It was already in my database, so I couldn't add a new number.:(

Ron, Yes..the stippled sideplate is a head scratcher. No real reason for it...

Bill, if Jason's suggestion is not what you want, I will contact Bill Waddell through Mike Krause, as they worked out a trade at the show and I'm sure Mike has his address. The custom pistol in Bill's case was not as fancy as the one on SimpsonLTD's.

yes - thanks - Ive seen that one - I think the upper asy is an early effort by Dewey who made a series of luger conversions in the 1960-70 timeframe - as far as I know this one on Simpson web site is totally unique from any others Dewey made
