Anybody in Missouri going to this gun auction?
 

Saw this on the net. It's two hrs from my brothers and I gave it some thought. Lot's of nice stuff but too far, too expensive and not enough time to get off work.

Lot # 44 is a 1943 HK luger.

Shouldn't the right side of the magazine release be fire-blued and not strawed ?

The items in the photo appear gold plated to me and not strawed... certainly not factory finish...

Several Krieghoffs in this lot... someone ought to tell John D. :D !

If I had more of a heads up I could of gone. Live gun auctions are a rush!

The man was definitly a collector. Looks like he never met a gun that he didn't like.

The auction house has mis identified a number of the pieces, it may end up quite a chaotic event.

Is anyone going? Looks like I spotted a 9mm Eagle I would like to know more about. Please let me know @ bayoucellar@aol.com

I called them today, handed me off to three people and didn't call back.

There is also a huge listing of lugers and other guns they are selling as "parts"... I think there will be so many guns that prices will be very reasonable.

This might be my only chance to buy my long sought after AE at an affordable price. Only problem is, I am in Louisiana and the Luger is in Missouri. There is telephone bidding, but can I trust their description?

You guys might consider contacting Tom Heller who lives not too far from Macon in St. Charles, MO.

Maybe this auction is already on Tom's dance-card and he can act as your agent on a certain piece ???

I do plan to attend this auction and to purchase as many German pistol parts as possible. Since their descriptions are sketchy and some gun will be in larger lots with other guns, I don't choose to bid for anyone as their agent, plus I don't have a cell phone. If I can out bid Bob Simson & others, on some of the complete matching lugers, I will probably offer them first here on the Forum, with more complete descriptions, at Fair market prices. So if there is a particular lot that interest you, let me know and I'll try to get back to you with some details, before the auction, so that you can bid yourself. Tom

Well, my feelings on these guys has changed, all for the better :). They called me back, talked to me for a while, gave me to another lady who sent me detailed pictures (well much better, enough to help me decide).

I think they are doing pretty good for so many weapons for sale.

I spoke to Jim at the Lollibros auction today; he was most helpful. He laid out all the American Eagle Lugers for me and asked that I call back when he had time to evaluate them. He offered me his honest opinion of each one. There are two 9mm, one is a parts pistol and one about 70%. There are two other, 7.65 that he did not get into as I had no interest in that caliber. You might want to give him a call.

Hi Guys, I just spent the last 2 days previewing the items up for auction. The bad news is, that most are pitted or rusty from 10 years of storage in a wet cellar after the collector's passing. Only one or two had matching mags and some have repro or no mags at all. Quite a few of the lugers have renumbered parts, so I wouldn't advise bidding long distance or I'm afraid that you will be very disappointed, as the folks running the auction, don't know much about these pistols. The good news is, that all of the advertised Artillery models are actually Navys, but most mismatched in poor condition. No buyers premium or phone bidding during the auction although your can leave a max bid range, in advance. I'll be there bidding on many items for use as parts. TH

Now here's something that will break your hearts.

I talked to Jim Lolli and he told me that after receiving the guns, he asked Mr. Dower's sister whether there were any holsters or other items that were part of the collection. She told him that the family had collected many large tubs of moldy holsters, parts, etc. and had taken them to the dump a couple of months ago.
