Swiss Luger for collection
 

Hello Everyone,

I want to purchase a Swiss Luger for collection purpose. Our local gun shop owner is from Switzerland and he has several kinds of Swiss Luger.

1. the 1900 which is very rare
2. 1906, first to third series
3. 1929er

I prefer the 1906 which is at the middle price range. Here I want to ask which 1906 model is worth buying?

If you enjoy the 1906 model then buy it. Just make sure everything matches and is legitimate. In the end, these antique firearms are worth as much as you are willing to pay for them. Me personally, Id buy the 1900 if given the opportunity and having the means to do so because I like the look of the dished toggles and their price is always going to command a premium price...and they arent getting any cheaper.

As a small collector, I find the value in the markings - the chamber stamp, the toggle brand, and acceptance marks. To me, the calibre is not important, as I never shoot them. But, I do want them in 100% firing condition. Matching parts matter a lot and the overall finish.

Some people don't want to see any import marks (i.e. "GERMAN") and others don't care.

You chose - then show us !

I need to have a study before go down to the gun store.

The Swiss Model 1900/06 was produced by DWM until WWI precluded further delivery. The Swiss began producing their own Model 1900/06 in 1918...these are distinguished by the Waffenfabrik Bern toggle marking and the distinctive checkered grips with the plain border. So you have two choices for a 1906 Swiss!

I just saw a 1900 Swiss Luger in local store. It has BWM mark, Corss/Sunburst, s/n 3XXX, all parts matching number. But it has no number on the grip. Is it correct? The owner told me that Swiss Luger didn't have number on the grip.

DWM also made some 1920s on the '06 pattern. So more yet to seek and collect!

The M1906 DWM Swiss came in both a Police and military models. As I recall SWILL is something that you feed to the pigs. TH
