Parabellum "Swiss Navy"
This morning, I saw on a specialised parabellum forum:[url]http://www.phoenixinvestmentarms.com[url] at the Archive section a parabellum named "Swiss Navy". I have some Swiss parabellum and also a german DWM navy model of 1916 but I've never know anything about a so called "Swiss Navy".What do you think of this misterious weapon ? Sorry for my bad english!!

Go to the web site link and select the "archive" section. This Swiss Navy luger is there...and it is indicated as sold.
A Luger Forum member (not me...) bought another one of these "rare" Swiss Navy lugers from Ralph Shattuck a couple of years ago. That one looked as new as this one... This one from PIA looks like it just came out of the refinish tank...IMHO... But it could be possible that target/sport shooters in CH had a Navy or even a LP-08 imported into CH for fun shooting at gun ranges. I would imagine those would have the original chamber markings removed and replaced with the Swiss cross/sunburst and/or have Bernerprobe proofs added...on the barrel or left side receiver. I have asked on the SwissRifles.com web site if any of those members in CH have seem Navy or LP-08 lugers show up in CH...so far I have not received any positive responses... (Poor English to French translation...via Babel Fish computer translation...) Allez au lien de site Web et choisissez la section d'"archives". Pete... the translation is not that bad... I mean it's understandable. :-> As for the question, I can only join the other posters. I remember having seen in Rutsch's book a long barrel 06/24 for target/sport shooters. I don't remember having seen any other long barrel Swiss Lugers anywhere. |

you will see that some swiss shooter have used special luger wenn they were participating to some international competition. May be the long barrel make some of us think that they were Navy Lugers |

Not so sure that's the Swiss Navy. More like the Swiss crossing the Delaware. Swiss Navy would be very similar to the Nebraska Coast Guard, I think. |

For those who knows where Switzerland is, we don't have access to the see, but we have some small lakes between France and us, as well as between Germany and Us. some 60 years ago, it was important to patrol them.....

Fredo, great picture, thanks. I am confident if the Swiss ever ordered pistols outside of the 4 3/4" barrel pattern the orders would have been documented along with complete accuracy test results in the Swiss aresenal tradition.

No Navy in Switserland?

A Swiss A/C Carrier; that's a surprise. Hopefully the Bordensee has some upwind stretches 30nm long or more for flight ops and the same for recovery of fixed winged aircraft. If similar to the US Navy, pistols are only carried in port by the Officer of the Deck and perhaps the shore patrol. A long range rifle (or better yet a missle) is much more useful to pick off unwelcome "visitors" before they approach too close. TH

A bit high mountains for around the Bodensee and Swiss aircraft carriers are much smaller as is shown down here....

It was a special attraction during the Swiss army days last November, they positioned this boat close to the casino at lake Lugano and it was nice illuminated during the nights.
