Question
I picked up a 1918 DWM it is a police gun. What is this unit mark?
G.K.128. Thanks Russ |
According to Noll it is a Garde-Cuirassier regiment.

Russ,
I assume the pistol has a sear safety and possibly a mag safety since you called it a police gun. This may be a marking of the Gendarmeriekorps of Oldenburg. Can you post photos of the gun and marking along with the serial number and any other unique markings? |
Don
Yes it has a sear safety. But no mag safety http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/mvc047s.jpg Russ |
Russ,
I'd go with Don here. The marking isn't quite in the Imperial Army format, and it looks like there is removal of some kind of mark. --Dwight |
Russ, thanks for the info and photo. My ID still stands. I have records of several 1908 Commercial Lugers marked G.K.xx. on their chambers during the Imperial era (xx. matches the serial number on these guns) but yours is the first I have seen with a Weimar-era marking. May I have permission to publish the photo of your grip strap in my book? If you have a higher-resolution version of it, that would be even better.
