This holster looks a lot like one for the model 1892 French army revolver. They had them in both black and brown.

I have a holster very similar to this one captured by a canadian soldier from a german naval officer in Holland in late 1944 the luger inside is a 1933 northsea marked dwm-mauser (m-anchor).The soldier from whom i acquired it told me that was the way the gun was captured.
