Loading tool prices??

Just picked up a loading tool off eBay, WW1, crown marked for $56.
Can anyone tell me what would the difference be between my one and one that has an asking price of over say $200.
Assuming mine is not a fake??!!

spartacus38 02-23-2013 09:36 PM

Original one are going for approx $175 to $200.

Well, sometimes you get lucky and things are sold way under their market value.

Last year I bought a very nice, all original Imperial military C96 for about $700. Just because nobody else bid on it. It happens.

Am believing I got lucky! Will see when it turns up....that C96 is A beauty!

I have noticed lately that WW1 Luger loading tools have reached some high prices..I can't explain this one for instance but it's not the only one..

And here is a link to your $56 tool

Yep that's the one!....... Look authentic????

klaus 3338 02-26-2013 02:25 AM

It is authentic- it is the most often seen Imperial tool.
Some Imperial tools seem to be so rare that one can find 50 Krieghoff tools before one can find a C/N or C/G with the 4 lobe crown.

Thanks! My luger rig is complete :)

Loading tool arrived today and was shocked at how small these things actually are. Suppose should have been expecting this due the size of the pouch in my holster but still a suprise. Still amazed these little things go for we'll over $300!!

Yes, I just received one the other day in the mail and my wife said, "You paid what for that little thing?!?" :)

What was your answer ?

alanint 03-08-2013 04:54 AM

"It's bigger than you diamond ring, which cost more".....

kubel 03-08-2013 09:51 AM

Luckily, her reply was in jest. I collect all kinds of WWII German stuff so she's used to me bringing home things that seem trivial for the money. :nono:

Here we go again. Incredible. Am I missing something here? Or is this type of tool really worth this much??

I wouldn't use Ebay to determine the "going price" for things like these. Gunbroker prices are probably a little more realistic although I've seen some stuff go very high there as well.

The problem with Ebay (actually one of dozens) is that they don't have a 15-minute rule like many other auction sites have. This creates a bidding frenzy in the last few minutes of the auction which drives prices sky high sometimes. I watched a common set of K98 ammo pouches go to almost $400 within the last few minutes of the auction because two bidders went after each other. As far as I was concerned, both ended up being losers in that auction.

never seems like those bidding wars are on the items I am selling :D

And with tools, just like lugers, each marking can make a huge difference in price.

And, the pictures are long gone, so no idea what markings it has.

Same here! The bidding wars only start the second I bid on something!

klaus 3338 08-10-2013 03:07 AM

I owned 11000 tools but I never find this 4 lobe C / M. But I would have paid "only" $ 200 US.
