Eric's Kreighoff Varios Grips Question
 

How many variations could they come up with? Were they all plastic. Just how many colors and why? I cant find my Gibson book so I cant find at least a start. Were they interchangable?

Easy at a high level. All more or less interchangeable if they are righteous.

The early HKs had walnut grips, then transitioned to Brown plastic fine grips, then Brown coarse grips, then Black grips similar to those used by Mauser. There were a few patterns/molds used identifiable by looking at the backs.

As you may recall there was/is a study of plastic/bakelite grips on both Luger sites.

Thank You but the Germans usually always had a reason for everything no matter how miniscule. Did any of the other manufactures, IE Mauser or DWM experiment with multible grip patterns or compasition?

I found out of there three materials walnut brown plastic and black bakelite like and there variation under each of them. Why so many???

A possibility is different source suppliers. Like variations in awards and decorations, depending on maker.

Theres a finite answer out there to a simple question, I believe the other producer stuck to wood and not 6 variations, It just dawned on me the P38's used different plastics.
