Yemen K Date Luger

Dont know if you remember these Lugers that Robert Berg found in Yemen, five VOPO type reworks. I have just completed the K date and will post after pictures tomorrow. Here are the before pictures. A nice find for Robert! This is the second restoration I have completed for him. I hope to do more of them. CLICK on the smaller pictures to see the full size version. The markings on this gun really suffered from the first rework. Not4e it has the wrong magazine, should be a type 1 Army nickel with a aluminum bottom and NO center retaining pin.

Thor,

I am trying to sit here patiently in Yemen, with a glass of Famous Grouse keeping me company. But I must say it is like waiting for a birth...pacing...pacing. I hope to see the fruits of your labors soon!

Robert

So you are back in Yemen Robert? Find any more of those Lost Lugers at bargain prices?

rabbrt2 01-06-2004 01:44 PM

John,

Yes I have, I have four in my closet and an old 1887? turkish Mauser (all matching numbers), eventually headed for the master Thor. You know buddy you don't live that far from me, I would love for you to come visit our farm someday, if you are interested?

Give me a shout when you get back from Yemen Robert... we'll see what we can do :)

Send me a private message with your address so I can research how far you are...

It is late here and I must lay my head down.

Something, in anticipation of what's to come:

"Beauty is not only a terrible thing, it is also a mysterious thing. There God and the Devil strive for mastery, and the battleground is the heart of men"

Fyoder Dostoyevsky

All the Best,
Robert

Had to pull myself away from Hugh Clark's 1900 AE to get these done. A real change. These grips and mag were taken from my K date as I dont have the Nill grips yet to put on this K date.

Thor, you are a true craftsman! Anyone should be proud to own one of your reworks.

Very interesting with that Vopo-K-date. I have the same, bought at a big dealer here in germany. Only the sideplate was wrong, i reworked it. But it is not so fine like that one here. Great condition. Dieter

Thank you Dieter!
