Wanting advice on a 1st purchase

I'm looking at getting my 1st real Luger very soon (I say "real" as I already have a Erma 32 that has been a great gun). How much should I expect to pay for a shooter (functional, but terrible finish and mixed parts)? Would I be able to find one in this bad (but usable) of shape for 700 or less? I ask because I should have that amount soon, maybe more if I can dump a Steyr M95 and possibly an Enfield revolver.

"Functional, terrible finish, mixed parts", $700 or less, but not always easy to find.
If you have old military pistols to sell consider listing them here in the For Sale column. These guys may have an interest.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you and will do if it doesn't sell tomorrow at a local gun show.

Welcome,

I'd advise spending about $1k, and getting one with a little better than "terrible" finish! ;)
Hang around here and watch the WTS forum, you can find a good shooter there if you are patient.

It''s hard to estimate typical price for any Luger including shooters because there are so many variables - type, condition, availability, venue of sale. Roughly I'd say shooters sell for $700 to $1,200, based on what I see people actually paying in auctions. To get toward the lower end of that range you need some combination of patience, luck, and lots of looking. In my opinion $1,000 is a good target for most people give or take a few hundred.
