A local LUGER owner offered me his pistol for sale. Going trough my limited library, I can't identify that pistol. Only info I had was on the phone.Here goes: MAUSER mfg. ( doesn't specify if Banner or not ),dated 1940, strawed parts, matching numbered mag w/ alu. base. Rig includes a 1939 Kurt Vogel WaA 94 Blk holster w/ spare alu. bottom mag ( not matching ).Owner says gun is about 90%+ original condition. Can someone help with ID and value. Thanks

i don't believe they strawed any parts after 1936.

Be a little careful with this one.


If it is original and not refinished/reworked, it is likely a Mauser Banner commercial - and worth better than a grand; possibly as much as $3000. If it is not original, is refinished, reworked, etc. then itâ??s worth less than a grand - maybe as little as $300 - $400.

Any tips on identifying a Banner Commercial...Is it similar to a Banner police ( I have a 95% 1942 Banner police E/L as a reference )Thanks.....

Banner commercials look, smell and shoot the same as police guns, 'c'ept they don't have that sear safety and will have a different proof other than Eagle C,L or M. ...mostlikely will be Eagle N. These tend to be very well made, beautifully finished pieces, some of the best to come out of Mauser.

Hi,

There are some very interesting varitation of Mauser Lugers dated 1940 with strawed parts. The Dutch 1940 (roughly 2551v- 3254v), the Swedish 1940 (roughly in the 6000w-7000w), and the 1940 commercial, to mention a few. The Dutch and Swedish examples all had strawed parts. The 1940 commercial could have either all blued or strawed. I do not know of any 1940/42's with strawed parts.
