Getting Rid Of Tiny Rust Spots

My 1911 has minor rust spots on the barrel? How do you deal with this blemish? TKS Eric

I use 0000 steel wool and lots of light gun oil. Do not see how hard you can rub. Bill

wlyon has it right IMO ... especially the 'Do not see how hard you can rub' part.
The objective is to gently remove all surface rust not the finish. :nono:
If you can get 0000 bronze wool that is preferable but not a game ender.
Bronze wool is non magnetic and easier to clean up ... micro magnetized steel wool particles hide in every crevice after any steel wool use :banghead:
