Swiss Luger ?

5 Attachment(s)
I recently aquired a swiss luger and am interested in selling it. I don't know very much about it. I was told that it is a 190? swiss with the cross and sunburst. If anyone can give me some information on the best way to sell this for a reasonable amount it would be appreciated. I know the pictures are not the best and i will try to get better ones posted.

Can anyone give me some pointers on taking better pics. I have been trying but nothing seems to work.

H Barry, Welcome to the forum. Your Swiss Luger looks pretty nice, as far as I can tell from the out of focus photos. If you want more information than that, you're just going to have to break down and read the manual that came with your camera (I know this is something real men don't do). I had quite a shock when I saw the photo of the Luger with a left handed safety, until I realized it was taken in a mirror! Best regards, Norm

The mirror images faked me out for a moment also! You have a very nice looking early 1900 Swiss Commercial with the early Type II thumb safety. A later reinforced Swiss extractor has been installed. The rear sight is as original and has not been modified to a U shape. You either photographed it with two different magazines or the metal disc is missing from the right side of the magazine base.

It would be helpful to know the serial number of the gun and perhaps a couple of photos of the magazine. I am guessing it is a 3-digit serial number, perhaps 540?

Do you have a macro setting on your camera? It usually is indicated by a flower symbol. That will allow you to take close up photos that are in focus.

Thanks for the pics and hopefully you can provide a bit more info and photos. It is a quite desirable gun but, as such, it needs pretty detailed information to better assess value.
Ron

There gettin better,I like to go outside in the morning before the sun gets up to far and use natural light. The macro feature will take much better closeups. A member posted this thread which is very helpfull Best c

Here are some more. I think they are getting better. What else would you like to see pictures of?

Hi Barry, We have several Swiss Luger experts on this forum, and I'm not one of them. However, I'm sure the y would like to see the following clear, sharp photos: The marks on the left front frame, the area beneath the barrel showing the serial and all marks, And the opening at the bottom of the frame where the magazine is inserted. Regards, Norm

Thank you for the additional photos. After careful review of the photos, it appears that you have an original finish, or proper Swiss refurbishment, Luger. It is always difficult to tell from photos, but it appears that it is in superlative condition. Without hands on evaluation to confirm what I see in the photos, I would expect it to be in the $5000 range, perhaps a bit more.

Thank you for the information. Is there anyone in the midwest that has the knowledge to assist me with a hands on evaluation and possibly find someone interested in purchasing this from me?

Hi Barry, The Midwest is a pretty big place. I think you need to be a little more specific. Regards, Norm

Very nice gun. Could you please report the full serial number for the Commercial database?

The magazine with the metal inserts in the base is Swiss military-style. The proper commercial magazine for this gun would be unmarked with a plain base.
