I used to use this years ago to target shoot just for fun. But have note fired it in about 20years. while we had it.. maybe about 100 rounds were fired if that

It has all matching serial numbers the gun in very very nice shape was kept in a cloth bag.

so were looking to sell it.. and will offer it first to this group

if you would like to call.. our number is at work

Bill, welcome to the forum. I can help you with pictures if you'd like.

A price is required to post in the for sale section, please add a price, as we are a classifieds and not an auction ;)

Wow.. more replies than I expected.. I will try and get the photos up in a while.. I am trying to bring myself up to speed as to the value.. I wish I was going to keep the gun.. I did enjoy it as a teen with my dad.. My mother needs to go into a retirement home.. and needs the money.. we have other guns also.. not many but.. here is a basic list.. 38cal snub nose think a police cheif special.. in nice shape.. purchased about 22yrs ago.. is registered.. a what I think is a 25cal Beretta hand gun in nice shape.. a german mauser I think 32 cal.. and a 45cal colt semi automatic.. not in good shape.. as collectable but in working order.

my real intrest in selling is the luger. I will try and come up with a price by friday.. I am trying to read posts here to understand the value

here are some photos

Hi Bill. The luger seems to be reblued, which really hurts the collector value. Still you might find someone looking for a nice shooter. The Allenown gun show is next weekend and it is a great show. Lots of dealers who would take everything, but NOT at top dollar. Still , if you want quick cash, I would take them to the show and find the table of Art Burtis. He is honest, straight shooter, and carries cash. I;m happy to meet with you in King of Prussia if you want and can give you my honest assessment. whitemant@aol.com.
Good luck

Bill, I have dealt with Art and he is a good guy.

In addition, Tom can be trusted completly also.

Thank you for the information about being reblued.. If it was I do not know anything about it.. All I know is when my dad found it in my grandfathers personal items.. he took it to a local gun smith to have it checked out to fire.. later we reloaded our own amunition on the other guns but this gun My dad wanted to leave as is.. I hope your wrong.. lol.. what are tell tail signs to look for that might show an novice that it was.. is there a simple way to tell

Bill Hibbert 01-31-2008 11:29 PM

I posted something wrong.. My dad was in the service the luger he got some how thru the service I think he bought if off of a service man that came back from overseas.
my father was a staff photographer for some top brass but was here in the states. To my knowledge the gun was never worked on in anyway. Rebluing or any repair. I will double check with other family members..

the mauser and the beretta were in my grandfathers estate.. I will check with my mother if she knows more history on the luger and post on friday..

Thanks all

The Luger does not look reblued to me.

tracyp 01-31-2008 11:45 PM

Bob,

From your pictures, your Luger's serial number is 5309r. The small parts (trigger, take down lever, safety, ...) were straw colored until 1500t. Yours looks blued.

Clifton, I didn't think it looked reblued to me either at first, and I thought the strawed parts looked worn, but strawed to me...

But, other folks know these 1937's than I do and some of it that should be strawed, look blued...

Ed,

After looking at it again, maybe it is strawed.

Bill Hibbert 02-01-2008 12:16 AM

strawed.. not sure what that means... again.. novice here

CLIFTON 02-01-2008 12:22 AM

Again, this Luger is not a reblued gun, it has original finish.

Bill Hibbert 02-01-2008 12:30 AM

thanks clifton. I have a question.. what could I take a photo of .. or how close.. and of what area.. or part.. that could prove this.. I have a good digital camera.. I can shoot more photos in the morning..

Edward Tinker 02-01-2008 12:32 AM

Al, do it from slightly different angles and lighting from several angles.

On my laptop, which I am on right now, it looks more reblued, but on my main computer, it looked original to me.

Ed

Bill Hibbert 02-01-2008 12:36 AM
