Repro Holster for 1917 Navy
The Navy holster sold by CMR is designed after the earlier Navy Lugers, up through the 1906 type. As I understand it, the flap design was changed for the 1908 and 1914-type Navy Lugers.
Does anyone know of a source for a good 1914-type Navy Luger holster? Thanks, Luke |
Luke, There are only two flap designs that I know of...The type1 and the type 2The type 1 was the early style and has a teardrop flap with a brass stud closure. The type 2 had a more rounded flap with a buckle closure. Is this what you are referring to? Jerry Burney

Yes, Jerry. I own the the CMR reproduction of the first version which has a flap which is held closed by a brass stud.
I am looking for a good quality repro Navy Luger holster of the second type where the flap is held by a strap and buckle. Would consider an authentic Navy holster of this type, but I don't have the expertise to authenticate such an item. Any ideas? Thanks, Luke |
Luke, I do not know of anyone who makes the type 2 as a repro. CMR does make a nice type 1 and from what I understand it is fairly authentic. I have a type 2 original and it cost me $700.00 so they are not cheap. They are not difficult to authenticate if you actually have it at hand but a different story if long distance. I have made several copies of both the 1 and 2 types for my own use. It would be possible to buy a type 1 and convert it to a type 2...Jerry Burney
