Luger

Hello, I have a nice luger in very good condition. I know little about the gun other than the man I got it from had it in his possession for over 40 years. It is marked DWM, has a small B in a circle on the left side of the barrel. The gun has numbers on the front of 58404. The information I have tried to put together says the B should represent a Brazillian contract gun, but the serial # would be inconsistent. I can e-mail pictures of the gun to anyone who might help. Maybe the gun is a mixed parts gun? It is in extremely good condition, but some of the upper toggle parts have a redish tint. I thought most of the Brazil contract guns were used hard?
Thanks for any help Don

Dr Colt, Welcome to the Lugerforum... for a better assist in identification, instead of emailing your photos, I recommend that you upload them to our server and post them here for the membership to see. You will get a much larger response and the answers will educate us all.

The photo upload link is in the upper right hand corner of every page, and a tutorial for uploading and displaying photos in your posts is at the top of the Site Help and Feedback forum.

I hope this is helpful to you.

Don,
I suspect that you are probably correct that it is a parts gun. The reddish color indicates a salt re-blue at an incorrect temperature. The 58404 serial number is also way out of range for a Brazilian contract Luger. Most likely it is a Brazilian receiver placed on a 1906 Commercial frame. If you would like, you can send pictures to rwood1@elp.rr.com and I will try to give you a more accurate assesment.

Don,

It will be interesting to see pictures of this gun. Does it have a grip safety?
