I'm not sure Vitaly but it has crossed my mind ... I don't think I would ever fire them anyway ... waited too long to find these.

I found a box of ammo on a dealers table a number of years ago for $5 - another collector needed it, so went to him (sorry, many moons ago).

When I visited my parents about 35 years ago, some guy was selling 'small' boxes of 9mm. I bought several hundred rounds, shot all of them through my S&W 39 I owned at the time. It was sure fire and Would punch holes through almost anything. I don't even remember what the boxes looked like, assume they were military boxes because I know they were WW2 german ammo.

What should one expect to pay for a box of WWI Luger ammunition in good condition, either sealed or unsealed?

That's a difficult question to answer Blm14740 ... too many parameters to come out with a cut and dried answer.

What caliber ??, what quantity ??, what age ??, what condition ?? etc etc etc.

Best bet is to google 'WW1 Imperial Germany ammunition for sale.' , grab a coffee and settle in on a long interesting hunt for your answer. :thumbup:

Come on Jerry, it cant be that uncommon! I bet there are at least 5-10 boxes of WWI 9mm ammo in my small town alone.........John

The more we find in France , are from 1917 or 1918 , sealed are about 100€ mini , unsealed near 80€
But all rare and difficult to find

More common those from WWII , classic from 20 to 40€ , price drop for rarety

I don't think I would shoot ANY WW2 vintage German military 9mm ammo in any gun...
Towards the end of WW2, Germany started using sintered iron bullets loaded in steel cases. These rounds sitting for 75 plus years can start to rust between the case and bullet which may create unsafe chamber pressures that could wreck a gun and/or you.

John, Yeah and I bet you know where they all are! In your safe! You and George cornered the market and left us poor guys with nothing! Truth be told I couldn't afford them if I found any.

We don't have them all but I got all I needed.

When I was a kid (age 14), my dad told me I could have a gun. Well, I was obsessed with the P-38, thanks to the "Man from U.N.C.L.E." on TV, and although he considered any pistol to be pretty much worthless, he still went along with it. At that time, I was able to frequent the monthly gunshow in a neighboring town, and surplus ammo was readily available. I saved my lunch money, and bought what I could, for $3-$4 for a box of 50, and sometimes 64 rounds in a box, and other various lots. Much was German corrosive, truncated cone ammo, some was probably the hotter sub machinegun ammo, but some of the best was non-corrosive Canadian made. I bought and shot all I could afford. My gun was a Spreewerke, and pretty worn. Anyway, looking at your ammo find brought back all those memories of shopping for ammo back in 1966. The CYQ P-38 cost $55. It took me all summer to save up that money.

Doesn't matter the age to most folks

Un Sealed - all rounds there $100 minimum - and I'd expect some of the label would be gone, add money the nicer the label is

Sealed - messed up label - around $120
nice label - I paid over $200 for a nice label, sealed box and was happy to do so

If anyone in Europe wants to sell me empty boxes of the above, contact me :)

A few from the early 20's sold on GB for over $200. I don't have a WWI box in my collection-yet. Looks like Jerry and I are competitors.
