Portuguese Army M2 Luger
 

PORTUGUESE ARMY M2 LUGER...I know little about Lugers so I'll post this for your reference and you can beat it up or advise me of what to look for...I stripped it down and it matches as far as all numbered parts... Serial number 475...Grips are not numbered to the gun ("33").

All comments/suggestions/criticisms & witticisms are welcome and thanks for taking time to look.

Your gun appears correct and is a rather nice example with a low serial number. These were service pistols so it is tough to find one in pristine condition. Yours appears to be a bit better than average considering the ones I have seen. The markings are correct. The safety area should be polished, and even if it has darkened with age it still shold appear different than the surrounding blued area. The trigger and thumb safety look like they might be blue instead of straw but that could be because of the lighting. The markings and corners are sharp so it looks original, but because of the forgoing observations you should look closely to see if it is a re-blue (I will be surprised if it is). The grips are proper with the very small two digit serial number stamps, but as you have noted they are not matching to the gun. The remainder of the marks on the grips are just inspector's marks. The proper magazine would an un-numbered wooden base with the same triangle in a circle marking as the barrel and rear of the frame. Generally a pretty nice M2.
