PLEASE READ!!! It's important info about the upgrade...
Repeated post... Please read (again)..!!!
First - PLEASE REMEMBER when we go live on the new Forum - your "login name" will be your screen name in this forum. So, for example - my "login name" would be "John D.". In the new Forum - it has a single login and screen name.... Also - your Sceen Name and password are CaSe SeNsItIvE (as Ron W. can attest to <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> ) Second - PLEASE COPY YOUR PRIVATE MESSAGES from this Forum. You can "copy and paste them" into a text editor from this forum. The import utility I'm re-programming does not work well with PMs . However - once the new forum is on-line - I will open this old Forum so you still retrieve those messages... Third - PLEASE BE SURE that your registered e-mail to this Forum is correct. You can check it by clicking on "my profile" above. The reason that a correct/current e-mail is important - is as folks reply to posts/threads you have posted in - you will get an e-mail telling you who replied and a link to open that thread, should you want to continue discussions. Finally - my thanks to each and all of you...... My Best Always! John D. |
I know those guys, Pete and Repeat :D
|
Ed, me too but does Repete have any monetary interest or endorsement of the item mentioned??
|
Will this forum be loaded into the frames pages later ? (url: www.Lugerforum.com) Or will it remain a non-frames site?
|
Quote:
It already is loaded into the main site as a link. Try a "refresh" on your browser - and if it doesn't work - then wait for your proxy's cache to expire.. Thanks! John D. |
OK it works great now!
Me like! |
Photos...?
Hi John D.,
It looks like the photos in the existing discussion threads did not come over in the new birth of the Luger Forum... Will we have to go in and fix each message where a previous photo was embedded ? If yes, I want a doubling in my pay as Moderator...:bigbye: Regards, Pete... |
Hey Pete..!
The only photos that have been dropped - are the ones that used the THUMB hack..??? All the rest - should be fine?? Well - except for your TYPING gremlin??!!! Best to you! John D. |
WOW...
Hi John D.,
Unfortunately...I have been trying to be a nice guy and I regularly thumbed all the photos I have posted for more than a year...so folks without big CRT's or LCD's screen would not have to scroll horizontally while reading postings... When I have some down-time during the Holidays...I guess I will get busy going back into posts (in the Swiss section...maybe, only...) and getting rid of the "thumb" stuff... Otherwise...you have done a marvelous job with the Upgrade !!! Regards, Pete...:typing: |
I notice I have to relogin for everything I click on in the message section. The reason, it wants my cookies on. Why???
Wasn't needed before... |
Simple Johnny... New Software... New features = New requirements.... Everything is a tradeoff when you upgrade...
|
Okay John D. ... so where do I find the Admin functions for this board? A PM would be helpful... Anything similar to the last control panel where I can access the membership database and do searches and stuff? How about new registration approvals? Lots of questions.... when you can find the time to brief me.
|
Well - actually... The previous Forum used persistent Cookies as well - which are the same structure as this Forum. My guess is that the persistent Cookie from the old Forum was saved before a Browser upgrade or firewall update, which allow users to accept/reject them.
Try the ADMIN post above as to how to stay logged into this Forum. Also - Johnny - it's the "exact" same cookie format as the 1911forum.com, so if you aren't having a problem there, you shouldn't on this Forum either..? Best to you, John D. |
Hang on.. :) I'm trying to set up a CP for you as we speak.. Err... As I type.. :)
|
I shall await your instructions sir... Just wanted to make sure I have it committed to memory before I start my Christmas leave, 22-30 Dec, so I can check in if I get close to an internet terminal...
PLEASE be sure and tell me how to locate a specific user password and send it to them... I get those requests all the time... |
Never been on the 1911Forum...

I know I made the same mistake when this Forum first opened.... Almost 5 years ago... Frankly - one of you guys has to change your name.. :D Sheeshhh... Sorry about that!! Anyway - now that we've discussed my case of Alzheimers - are the cookies working for you now? John D. |
Jeez John,
It's perfectly clear to me. John D interlaced the squigit with the flagit spring, and now you've got to munipulate the whatzit with the fender pump and the muffler bearings. Don't you know nothin'? :D I think my starter cord just broke!! |
Well, to tell you the truth, this is one of the most seamless transitions I have ever seen! Dang, almighty, smokey weeD!! In otherwords, I am impressed John D., take Christmas off! |
If I turn them on everythings works as before. Just gotta remember to turn them off before I leave...
|
Hi Johnny!
I'm not certain which browser you are using - but, you should be able to have an "exception" for this site - so you don't have to turn it "on" or "off" manually... For example, on IE - if you go to: TOOLS - INTERNET OPTIONS - PRIVACY You'll see a button called "sites..." Press that - and type in lugerforum.com in text box and select "Allow"... That should allow you to visit this site - and yet block cookies from others... Best to you - and hope this helps! John D. |

Art - I just want to take a moment and Welcome you to your first post on this Forum. You've been lurking for years - and it's terrific to see you finally posting.... For the rest of the folks shaking their head wondering what this about.... Art is on the 1911 Forum and moderates the Dan Wesson Forum I often post to on that site. Art is a terrific moderator there, and a frequent contributor. He's a "virtual" friend, whom I've never met in person, who I hope to have the pleasure someday. As well - once he gets his camera figured out - I hope he posts pictures of the Luger he has from within his family - so we can help him figure out what he's got. Art - to you - a special "welcome" to the Lugerforum. My Best to you always, John D. |
John:
Thank you for the welcome. It is appreciated as you know.
To give you people alittle backround. My uncle was a member of the 101st Airborne, 506 Regiment in WWII- Yes the "Band of Brothers" although not in the company in the movie. If you watch it, at the end they interviewed several people in the 506th, one of which was a Lt. Hazenzall- MY uncles Co and who I had the pleasure of meeting at a reunion held locally several years ago. In any event, My uncle passed away about two years ago and I knew he had a Luger "Bringback" complete with all the papers as I had fondled it several times. That is when I joined this forum in 2002.- Trying for some info. I ask his wife-my Aunt- to give it to my younger brother (15 years younger than me) so that it would remain in the family. She did that. So guys, I will get some pictures of it and a picture of the papers so that you can all drool over them! I know John will. I remember it is a 1938 model in about 98% condidtion. My brother who is a very good shot, took it to a "Fun Shoot" this summer and won first prize in automatics. Glad to have finally posted, but unlike John, I only post when I have something important to say! Take care all, Art |

If it's a 1938 Krieghoff - it's worth - are you sitting down??? Aww - nevermind.. :) Quote:
Damn...... ;) Seriously - Art, all of us would like to hear about that Luger. One that is passed down in the family is something rare, special and unique.... My Best to you, John D. |
Hey JD
It really is a 1938, I know that much...what make I do not know and I ask my brother to bring it to my dads on Christmas so I can get some new pics and I will post them here in the next couple days.
Ya know this story really could be a whole new thread. When I was a young guy, may Dad bought a P-38 from a down and out WWII vet and that was the first pistol I had ever fired. When I was stationed in Cherry Point NC in 1969, I took that P-38 with me and had it in my locker, It is a wonder I am not still in jail. My dad traded that p-38 for a 1100 shotgun years later...I still cry..but I did buy a P-1 to compensate! Guys, let me get the pictures together and my story. I will start a thread showing the whole history of this Luger with all the family history. One thing I have to say it that my uncle always told me "You to could have been a Man": this to me who was a Marine in 1968.. He never forgave me for not going Airborne. BUT he was the first one to buy me a beer when I came home. His name was Max and I loved him. Take care and Merry Christmas!! Art |
Hey, you dognerber!
I always only say something when you have something important to say! Ed |
Don't be a stranger. Some of us around here would also like to (drool), I mean look, at any 1911's that may be hanging around your place!
