Any Swiss Luger Photos, Out There...?
 

Would love to see any photos of Swiss lugers our Forum members own (any DWM, Bern, or even Mauser mdoels...)

Hi Pete:

DWM manufactured these Lugers for commercial sale in Switzerland. According to Charles Kenyonâ??s Lugers at Random â??those examples with a long frame/receiver appear to be of new manufacture and are of the highest quality. Examples with the six inch slim tape barrel are quite scarce.â?� Famed Master Gunsmith R. Fluckiger in Zurich, Switzerland reworked mine. He then stamped his trademark an enrayed Federal cross and F Z for his initial and city enclosed in a bow as in bow and arrow on the right side of the receiver. Fluckiger refurbished an unknown but small quantity in 1923-5. Their distinctive barrels have a special front sight made by Hammerli of Lenzburg. All the pistols he worked on where rebuilt and refinished to the highest Swiss standards.

There is no scratch mark in the magazine showing where a bullet has ever exited the clip. For me, it was a find of major proportions and I am very proud to be its caretaker for my brief moment in time. One thing is obvious; the previous owners took very good care of this Luger. I intend to do the same.

Can you give me a lesson regarding what looks like a front sight protection device on your two 1906's ?

Were these DWM issued ? Or added by the Swiss ?

They are a Swiss after-market item. I have seen some with a manufacturer's mark on them. Mine are just marked "DEPOSE", or "remove". I think that in a panic situation, they would blow off without damaging the firearm, but it might flip back in your face! I forgot to mention that they are primarily a muzzle/bore protector. Keeps the crud out of the barrel after cleaning.

I just can't get enough!

You know, I used to think a Luger would be cool to own. Now after coming here my fantasies have enlarged and my wants have grown.
Then "BANG", I see Ron's "toy's" and my poor wife has to listen to me whine all over again.
My only question is, "Do you take these out to shoot" ?
Or should I buy a collectable and a shooter or drive the wife crazy with my obsession for firearms ?

I don't shoot these or other "collectables". I like shooters and have had a few, but unfortunately they usually end up as part of a trade for another collectable. My goal now is to find a decent 1908 shooter, preferably commercial, and have it converted and refinished to a "baby" by the forum's group of outstanding craftsmen. Then I will never be tempted to trade it off because it will be my "one of a kind" and very personal.

there are several in spring.
The one in Stuttgart is pretty big, IWA in Nuernberg is "dealers only" .
A very big one is in Dortmund. This year it will be from Nov,28 through Dec,1. They hold it, when the worker bees receive their Christmas pay.
I wonder when my boss at home will realize that this is already budgeted....

Thank you! I do not speak French (obviously!) so I asked someone that I thought spoke French. So much for that resource!
