TLSS Outgoing 2

For sure reason I am having trouble doing replies to posts. Everything goes as planned, then when I try to view the post, it disappears. I am logged in and I am hitting the refresh button, but I dont see the new post, so Jerry asked me to post these so I will try a new posting to see if it works. We shipped out Jerry Peterson's nice 1900 American Eagle Luger back to him today. He wanted me to show you some pictures of this really nice Luger. It was the first that has the new rust bluing on it, really pretty! If this ends a duplicate post, it was because of my previous troubles, so forgive me please. I also MUST mention those GREAT Border Grips were made by Hugh Clark! SUPERB!!!

I usually don't hit refresh, sometimes it messes me up, so I click on "Message Board" and it shows me what is new for that time frame.

That sure is a "purty" AE. You did, as usual, a great job...Can't wait to receive it. And Hugh's recheckering looks great too).

Thank you both!!!

George Anderson's Artillery was shipped today. This poor pistol had no bluing on it! It needed a face lift bad!!! Kind of interesting to see how bad it looked when it got here. I didnt take any after pictures of it.

Wow! The metal is smooth and the edges sharp. Looks like it was chemically stripped. I hope George will entertain us with some "after" pictures.

Thor 02-20-2003 09:19 PM

Well, for the week of February 22nd, the Lugers of note are Greg Kilburn's 1921 Weimar Army DWM, Frank Manders 1st Variation K date, and Bill McGrevin's 1917 DWM Artillery Luger. You just get better and better. Second Ron's comment about George's arty; it would be good to see an "after" picture as well.

RECEIVED Doug George's Baby Luger in from Hugh! REAL SWEET little jewel!! Frank 03-04-2003 11:29 PM

I'm sure that this will not be a shock to anyone, but I got the renovated K-Date back this evening.

Shipped out Ted Stefani's 1938 S/42 Luger and Roadkill's 1918 Erfurt Luger.

Hairy 05-29-2003 07:39 PM

Thor: You're teasing me, aren't you. Harry

Thor 05-29-2003 08:20 PM

We still need to resolve some things with your gun Harry. Tom Heller has a replacement toggle, you need a new firing pin and the main spring issue is unresolved. Both of these Lugers that I sent out today were ahead of yours in line.

Thor 05-30-2003 12:25 PM

Roadkill's Luger was delivered this morning to the gunshop he had sent it through! Cant wait to hear how he likes it!

Roadkill 05-30-2003 06:56 PM

Alright, gentlemen. I'm going to try to put this in the right perspective but don't know if I really can. When I was eighteen I rode aross the border from Vietnam to Cambodia behind a .50 cal machine gun on a tank. That was exciting. When I was 21 I got hit by lightning, that was exciting.
When I was 23 I hitched across Europe with a stunningly beautiful German girl (now my wife). That was real exciting :D . When I was 40 I got in a shoot out with some idiots out in the country who thought an old man on a bicycle would be fun to mess with. That was exciting. When I was 45 I got attacked by a red tail hawk on my bicycle out in the country. Exciting. Three years ago I was run over by a Humvee that crushed my chest. That was exciting. But the only time I ever have been speechless is when I opened the box and got my Luger back. I have always admired Lugers but never could imagine one could look that good. At first I thought Ted made a terrible mistake and sent me the wrong one. The bluing is flawless, the strawing perfect, and the combination of the fire blued parts set it off in a package that is simply outstanding. Thank you Ted. Thanks for the attention to historical detail for a deserving item of military and firearms history. Gentlemen, this was a 1918 nonmatching Erfurt. You ought to see it now.

rk

Thor 05-30-2003 07:57 PM

hehehehe!! I just love posts like that! Now I am almost speechless! Thanks RK!

Frank 05-31-2003 01:20 AM

RK, I haven't had all those exciting happenings, but I do have several of Thor's handy works. It's really difficult to imagine sending him pieces of pitted metal and have it returned in superb condition. His pistols always get wild raves every time I take them to the range!!

I have one more in Thor's pile as soon as good ole Hugh finishes my "Baby".

John Sabato 06-02-2003 10:38 AM

RK, you are going to have to find a way to post photos or scans of Thor's latest work...PLEASE.

Edward Tinker 06-02-2003 12:09 PM

Glenn, just take regular pictures and send them to me at my house :)

Or I'll send you my C&R, and send you an old Mosin Rifle for "safekeeping" for a year or so...

I'm back down at lovely old quaint scenic historical (hot humid mosquito ridden, snake infested, tick filled, dank, dilapidated) what once was Fort McClellan Al., no access to anything here but more of the latter but there is a beer store close by and I shall survive. When I get back I'll try to get some pictures up, we have a $400+ digital camera in the office I never took the time to learn how to use, too many smart kids around for me to mess with it. I'm doing the CQ deal down here again, on from 1800 to 0600, have 140 kids to keep in bed, been telling them ghost stories about cottonmouths coming out of the woods all around and sometimes into the barracks late at night, if ya'll think I can BS here you ought to hear me with a barracks bay full of 15-16 year olds late at night. Tonight will be about Jepediah Henderson, he's a axe toting mentally challenged institution escapee looking for his brother who was drafted in 52' but killed in an accident at McClellan and Jepediah is going to kill the DI who did it. He doesn't see well in the dark though. Well, gotta go, duty calls.

Later Ya'll

Roadkill! Some words of wisdom..... make sure you tell those stories at the bottom of a hill, or only when camping in a valley... as an old scout leader, I found that kids are a lot less likely to injure themselves trying to run uphill when scared to their wits end! Too much speed going downhill! till...later...GT <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />

I got my 1917 back from Thor yesterday, I'll never cease to be amazed at how good he can make an old pistol look! The pistol I just got back is the last candidate I had for restoration in my safe. Guess I'll just have to shoot and enjoy the ones I have for a while.
Thanks Ted for another wonderful looking piece.

Thor 07-11-2003 04:14 PM

Shipping Joe Oesterfeld's 1916 Erfurt Luger and Al Smith's 8" Commercial Shooter Luger today. Finishing Jerry Peter's Mauser Carbine (I had a few problems recently with it) and Harry Dennis's 1900 American Eagle Luger, bluing and strawing completed on this beauty. Both of those should ship next week.

Hairy 07-11-2003 06:15 PM

Thor: I haven't been this impatient for something to arrive since I was a kid waiting for Christmas!!!!

Actually, I think you are just teasing with me, huh?

Thor 07-11-2003 06:24 PM

Well, internal polish, fire bluing, reassembly is all that is left! Thanks for your patience and the extra parts to get this beautiful Luger up and running.
