TLSS Report

Finished a K Date, started on a G Date, hoh hum!
<img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> I'm so lucky!

Dan44 06-17-2004 11:07 PM

I thought summer was your slow season?

John Sabato 06-18-2004 09:25 AM

Thor can't afford a "slow season" since restoration of Lugers, and other deserving honorary mention firearms is his full-time day job!

Thor 06-18-2004 09:36 AM

Dan44, you said last August "I wonder if there will be a winter sale?" But I doubt there will be any sales this year. God has blessed me with lots of work so far.

sambuscemi 06-18-2004 11:04 PM

Well guys if it matters I plan on keeping Ted busy too. Sending him a short barreled Stoeger to restore this week and upon completion if I like it and I think I will - I got 3 more in line just waiting for that new fresh coat of paint so to speak.

Frank 06-19-2004 09:18 AM

Hi Sam, I'll bet you will be thrilled with your "new" paint job. Thor is just finishing number four for me and has number five in partial completion.

The first two were "shooters" and the next two restoration of some tough to find K-Dates.

It may take some time, but the final result is worth the wait!!

Thor 06-19-2004 10:20 AM

Frank, your second K date has been shipped! Happy Fathers day! Still havent done a Luger carbine yet, but I turned one down one day, it was SWISS CHEESE pitted, beyond my talents.

Thor 06-19-2004 07:40 PM

Franks K Date was delivered today!

Frank 06-19-2004 09:23 PM

Yup, it sure did show up this afternoon. It's a beauty. I'll try to take some photos and post them.

Thanks Thor!!!

Frank, I have seen Ted's work in Tulsa and here in Michigan at another customers of his. I did like what I had seen and bought a gun this last weekend in Louisville the Stoeger just with him in mind. Truthfully I am excited. I have a little bit of knowledge of what he does and therefore have a real appreciation for his skills. I just hope I am not too happy - it could break the money tree.

Frank 06-21-2004 09:42 AM

Sam, I know the feeling about breaking the tree!! Whenever I take the shooters to the range and get comments from the other shooters and range officers, I am very proud that I could resurrect these fine weapons to near original conditions.

As for the tough to find specimens (like K-Date Variations), I just think it is great to have the very nice looking example. Essentially, I have taken a Luger that is either pretty beat up or already messed with, and supplied the funds for Ted to turn it into a pistol that is as close to original as possible.

I'm sure Ted will do it justice!!

Ron Smith 06-21-2004 12:29 PM

Frank, If you decide to donate a K date to a worthy cause. I'll send you my address. I'll even give you honorable mention! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Ron

Thor 06-21-2004 12:58 PM

Ron, do you have ANY idea how hard those Ks are to come by? Unless you are really deep in the pockets. I was EXTREMELY fortunate to find mine after searching for a first variation for around 5 years. Frank has the inside track, he lives near Ralph and he pays a $1 fee to see Ralph and see all the incoming quality pieces, oh what a life! He is really lucky!

Ron Smith 06-21-2004 06:27 PM

Ted, Yes, I do know how hard they are to come by. Why do you think I'm trying to get Frank to give me one of his. It's easier to try to bum one, than actually look for it myself. <img border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" title="" src="graemlins/bigok.gif" />

Besides! Frank likes me. <img border="0" alt="[icon107]" title="" src="graemlins/icon107.gif" />

Thor 06-21-2004 06:53 PM

Dont hold your breath! Easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than to squeek one of out ANY Luger collector!

Thor 06-22-2004 01:21 PM

Finished a G Date Luger today, starting on a 1912 Erfurt! It is interesting that the early Erfurts have a front toggle link with a good clean unbroken crown. The later ones I guess were struck with a brokern Crown over Erfurt die.

Frank 06-22-2004 03:07 PM

Ron, as Ted said said, don't hold your breath!! On second thought, please do!!!!

:D

Ron Smith 06-22-2004 07:46 PM

yes sir.......... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

Thor 06-22-2004 10:19 PM

All,

Thor did a wonderful job of taking care of some "spot" problems on an otherwise nice piece.

His talent in this area is amazing.

Tom A.

Thor 07-29-2004 11:04 PM

Thanks Tom, Hugh did the grip work and it was very nice. I appreciate it Tom.
