1925 Simson Photos
I previously posted a request for information on a 1925 Simson Luger....I finally acquired the gun......here are some photos......Kidvett,a fellow collector here in Canada and myself spent a very interesting hour going over the unusual proofmarks and finish on the gun....it has almost a parkerised blue finish and appears to be an original gun.....it was also cut for the magazine safety, and came with a Robert Larsen Holster...any comments and feedback would be welcome....

Congratulations! Beautiful Rig, I would take it any old day. I really like the holster.

Now your not going to believe this...so neat, I have Number 460, and it has an undated chamber, and police sear safety. It is the only gun in the core of my collection that has been refinished, very well done, but I am not big on refinished Lugers, however the police type Simsons are hard to come by, it was offered right, and just last year at the Reno show Ralph Shattuck gave it a very positive $ appraisal....very nice!
|
Does your gun have the same proof marks as this one???....is your finish almost like parkerising??...I have a double date Police gun that has a very similar finish!!those are the only Lugers I have seen with this unusual bluing!! ....only 30 guns apart!!!....that is neat!!...
|
I have #421 undated <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Thanks for the photos!!....interesting proof marks!!!.....do you think that these guns were made in the same time frame??
|
Peter, nice police gun!
The serials are awful close, but then the proofs / acceptance are a bit different. Very interesting to hear about the other two. I'd like pictures of yours PL and Russ <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> Ed |
As soon as I can get Mrs.PL to do the picture voodoo and get it posted or sent to you I will...to say I'm computer challenged is an understatement
|
Take the camera and after taking the pictures, hold the camera (backwards) to the monitor and press upload and it will automatically send them pictures to Johns server.
Trust me, I used to work for the gov't. :D |
After 35 years with the Gov.....I am useless surplus....Sandra will again bail me out, tomorrow..
|
Ed...I took this Simson last year to the Reno show, kinds with my tail between my legs, was sure I over paid, Ralph wanted to put it on his list for 2K....I felt a lot better, as best as I can find, between 100/300 Simson's we police converted..
|
PL.....What are you RH receiver proof marks like??...unfortunately I do not have a copy of Weimar Lugers, and do not know much about Simson proofs!!....
|
Peter, once I am home, I can look it up for you.
PL, yes, I have a blank spot on my wall for a Simson, <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> Ed |
Sold to Ed tinker....I'll set price later...photos tomorrow I hope.
|
PL, it'll have to be long-term time payments, <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> and my MRS weimar and your MRS PL will have to talk, :D
Ed |
Maybe Police Luger should sell one of his Lugers and buy a new digital camera, one with Macro focus!
Mrs. PL |

This is a test, if you don't see a photo, please forgive Mrs. PL |
|
Sorry for the quality of the pictures and our inability to post them correctly but we are learning, so if the next two pictures post you can see that the right side proofs are E/6-E/87-E/67-E/67-E, gun is a beautiful rust blue restoration, clip is a non matching E/6, total rest of gun matched...will try pic one more time

|
MRS. PL, I would gladly buy him a new camera and trade him for the Simson, afterall it is reblued, heh, heh
Thanks Howard, looks like a nice one! Is it one of the ones I saw last year? Ed |
|
Thanks for all your help Ed, yes it is one of the police I brought last year to Reno for show and tell....just wait until my wake...Sandra will give these things away...and my son has no interest in them....I think I'm going to ask for a DNA test on him!...have a good day
|
My son likes them "fine", but I told the ole lady to sell them before then, saving 1 or 2 to give to him.
<img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> Ed |
Howard, have Sandra call me when she wants to get rid of them... I will make sure they don't go to a landfill... and they will hold a place of honor on my wall.
|
Well, I had to join in on this one and show my undated Simpson Police SN 11a:
