Figured out how to post pics

It might be a Martz, but there have been several post-war carbines made by folks. The barrel is 16 inches which makes it legal. It looks like it has WW1 markings on the right, close ups would help, as would the top of the carbine, with the toggle showing and any dates or possible dates.
Eugene made me a 'G' date fantasy piece, I unfortunately had to sell it to afford to buy a rare Simson. Ed |
Its marked 1916. Have no idea who made it.
|
Alex, Looks like a real beauty. Seems really well done. No stock? marked 1916 it started life as a military not any kind of commercial like regular carbines were. Have you shot it?

I shot this 5 shot group , standing at 25 yards. Very good shooter. No stock. But I think stock can be found or made (?).
|
Whoever constructed it knew what he was doing and did a fine job, but doubt that it is a Martz. If his, it will have his JVM in an oval on the frame under the sideplate. Nice gun.

Alex, Yes, carbine stocks are everywhere these days. Trouble would be finding one to match your pistols quality. It looks to be a real treasure. Take some time and find a nice stock to go with it. What a shooter that would make!
|
Since I probably will never find out who build this gun , at least I would like to get a decent stock that would really compliment it . My experience with Lugers is VERY limited , especially with custom Lugers. But this one does seem nice.

Are there any markings on the underside barrel. Where and what is the serial number? Is "GERMANY' marked anywhere? Pretty Gun, most likely custom~
|
Here is a Martz Carbine~https://www.gunsamerica.com/94197639...20-Carbine.htm

There are exact replica carbine stocks on ebay, not as nice as an original, but decent - I bought one from a friend that was cleaned up by Jim S here on the forum

It's possible, of course, if you live in a state that allows, to do the federal paperwork, background check, and $200 payment for the tax involved to legally own an SBR. Original Carbines have been exempted from this rule, like an original Artillery or Navy. |

It greatly increases the value of the gun!

Val7711, that is indeed a fine looking piece. Check out the leather carrying case that Jerry Burney makes for these Luger carbines. They are absolutely beautiful and would make a great addition to your unit. BTW, I don't work for Jerry.

I know you'd like it to be a Martz gun, but if marked, he marked 'most' of them. I had a 4 inch bull barrel that when I bought it, they said, I think its a Martz. On the forum, everyone said, no, I don't think so.
Yours looks almost exactly like the one Eugene G (Lugerman) made for me. Ed |

Its a nice looking carbine, I would not toss it out of the bed :)
It just depends on what you like or want. I look at my records I keep of guns I've sold and I say, what, I have owned 3 Test Lugers? I owned that many 1911's! Why'd I sell them! Ed |

Oddly enough Val7711 a stock just came up @ GunBroker for $495.00
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/894716310 It's not original and the fittings I find could be tighter but you may be able to score it cheaper for that reason. Re-fitting the hardware is relatively easy IMO. |

The hard part is the fitting. A gunsmith can do a custom fit adjustment~ I would definitly go for the stock! It triples the value of your gun!

You may be unsure of the maker, but it is a nice Luger Carbine!!!!
|
You could send good photos and the serial numbers to Lugerman and ask him if he made it......just a thought.
|
Mine is#"3231t"
