Vlim, they cut-away Broomhandle is really something! What’s the story on it?

Funny story:
A local gunsmith decided he wanted to build a C96 from scratch. He built it around a 9x19 Uzi barrel but got in trouble using photocopied drawings that got distorted during the copying process. The pistol ended up being about 1.2 - 1.3 times the size of a regular C96 and he never succeeded in making it function semi-automatically. So he decided to turn it into a cutaway eventually. |
S&W Revolvers

I've had a liking for S&W N frame revolvers since I was young. Started buying when I was 16. Never stopped. Have some j and k frame stuff as well. 38 & 357 on the left, then 41's then 44 special and 44mag, then 45 acp and 45 Colt. The two at a diagonal are 44's. Ran out of room on that row.

I like whatever pops my fancy, however, I can't afford just anything, so much more selective than I used to be - I do like a S&W or two - a 25-2 I've had for years and a heavy barrel model 10
Then, i like 1911a1's, but just have a couple now. I'd collect them if I hadn't gotten into lugers. Always have shooter lugers for 1911's :D The remington rand is a CMP, the nickle P1 was a close friends and came from the factory like that. Ed |

I like too much. He's a minor sideline of English handguns.

I like guns in general, but I've always had a preference for the 1911 in particular.
|
I’ve really only gotten started with Lugers, and I am young enough that I haven’t gotten a good chance to really expand my handgun collection from there. But I do have single samples of other handguns I enjoy.

i think that my Sig P210 (Swiss, 1958) is near the top of the collection as is my 1953 vintage Pre 18 Smith and Wesson .22LR Combat Masterpiece...

I love the look of the Colt black powder revolvers.

I think my favorite all around pistol is a Colt Officers model match 38 Special that my father gave me when I graduated from high school, however I like my lugers too as well as my Colt single action 32-20.

Way too many!
My "problem" is I like too much stuff and cannot make up my mind. My latest endeavor, while persuing a few hard to find Artillery luger variants, is High Standard .22 pistols. Some of these date to the 1930s and the predecessor of the High Standard company. The three "cabinets" show the early hammerless models, the next is the external hammer models, and the last is post WWII and to 1977 "modern" HS target pistols. Two of them are US martial pistols used for training during WWII. They are about as "bad" as lugers in terms of varieties; I have some 26- good thing .22 lr ammo is cheap again. :) |
I certainly do like my High Standard HD Military with 6" barrel. Probably my most used handgun.

Browning Hi-Powers.

I like them all.

Just picked up these two this weekend. An FN Hi power, waffenampt, and a BYF 42. Matching, except the un-numbered mag,(correct, perhaps?) with a DTA41 holster and WA63 tool. I just can't seem to stop.

I have way too many interests, but here are some samples of early "belly guns". some small autos, and some .22s.
Ron |
WW II Walther P38's, post war Walther PP/PPK (Ulm), Colt 1903's, and 1911's.
|
Pretty much anything up to 1945. And SIG P210s, of course. For shooting, I prefer SIG Sauer P226 and P220. They're hard to beat.
|
Colts. All the snake guns, the 1911's, and all the others they made. Model 29 Smith's.

I like early German revolvers as well as Lugers.
Here is a 9mm Single Action / Double Action German Police revolver. These are described in the Horst Friedrich book, "Dienstwaffen der deutschen Polizei und Gendarmerie, Historie, Technik, Kennzeichnung" in Chapter 9. My recently acquired example is similar to the Bavarian Gendarmerie and Berlin Type examples shown in his book. This six shot "Polizei Revolver" has a case hardened frame with the octagon shaped barrel, fluted cylinder, trigger group assembly and hammer nicely fire blued. The black ebony grips are finely checkered and the butt plate has a lanyard ring as is normal for these revolvers. There is a safety lever on the left side of the frame and the top strap is engraved with "Polizei Revolver". This revolver has Belgian proof marks and was made by Jean-Baptiste Ronge in Liege for the German market around 1894. Ronge also made special order police pistols for the "English Constabulary" and the "French Gendarmerie" with the appropriate markings. The unmarked generic German made revolver holster can fit a S&W M&P with a 4" barrel or this pistol. |

I also have an old H&R nine shot .22 I'm pretty fond of. |

I mostly like WW II era autos and rifles but also have a brace of Walker black powder and other more modern pistols. Just NO plastic guns. And prefer autos with a thumb safety, external hammer, no grip safety, single-double action, and NOT striker fire, but make an exception for the Luger and like a stock capability. I was like most and REALLY wanted a PPK - the 007 gun. But when I bought an HK Mod 4, with ALL FOUR multiple barrel-mag setups, I no longer wanted a PPK. The Mod-4 is sooooo much better and capable, I got spoiled. The only drawback is it has an alloy frame, another one of my dislikes. I like steel, preferably INOX. I think if HK would bring back the model, it would be an instant sell out. The used market is soaring. I bought mine when Germany (Bund BZV) surplused them for a VERY GOOD price in Shotgun News from a friend who worked AZORIAN.

Here is a part of my collection. I could not fit any more on the pool table and keep it looking neat. I have others, but as you can see my taste varies. I am currently on a WWII weapons kick and I have a 1911, Luger and Garand added to the colection.

Ruger Old Army revolvers are one of my "kicks" along with Remington XP-100s and Remington 51 pocket pistols.
Hunting pistols, in general, turn me on. PS: These photos are from my computer NOT Photobucket. They are "stolen back" from !#$@%^& Photobucket when they cut me out. |
Matt,
Very impressive group of P38's! |

Here is that rifle for my Granddaughter finished. It is smaller than it looks with a 28 1/2 inch barrel and only 43 inches overall

Next to the Luger, my favorite in center fire is the HK P30. I wanted another 9mm for recreation, and after some research selected this pistol as I consider it sort of a worthy spiritual descendant of the Parabellum:
Made in Oberndorf Semi-auto Reputation for quality State of the art at time of introduction Hard to describe but it gives off a similar feeling of quality and precision as a Luger. And the grip is customizable. |
