Some interest in NAVY Lugers?
Great to see some interest in the Navies.
|
Plenty of interest, they just aren’t as plentiful as other variants...which also makes them more expensive.
|
Saving for one as we speak.

Talking about Navies is a good thing, looking at pictures is better. Here is 1917 Navy #5302.

I have nothing to say as my knowledge is very limited on navies, but I do read the postings :)
|
Always wanted one as a shooter.
Even a fake. I have aged out of that today. |
Why bother? Norm has the Navies all sewed up. :)
|
I think the 6” barrel is the most aesthetically pleasing of all the Luger variants, and the best balanced for shooting/aiming. I also like that they are NFA exempt for stocks
|
Thanks for the replies guys now we need to keep it going. I have learned so much from the vast knowledge from you guys on this site.
|
I have a Mauser Navy with mismatched Navy mag. Nothing remarkable, they just don't get that much traction.
|
As I cruise the board, I don't see any Luger variant being particularly "hot". Many questions regard WW2 military guns, but that is statistically inevitable. And let's face it, our ranks are getting smaller.

I feel like there has been a recent uptick in Erfurts in particular and Imperial Lugers in general being posted about.

After all, if it was made after 1918 it is a reproduction. Ron |
Ron,
Mine was made in 1915 so it is real, I hope. Come on guys, we are unable to learn if you guys are not sharing your vast knowledge with us novice Navy Luger people. I have all the books but still love to see and read the comments people post about their Navies. A huge thanks guys. |

Most of us post when we have something new. Norm posts frequently when he sees a "funky" navy; though perhaps more on the other luger board. Have you read all of the archived posts? Do you follow Still's forum also? Do you look at every navy auction and post pictures and ask questions? JMHO:soapbox: |
It’s not that we aren’t willing to share, there just aren’t that many Navies still around after 2 world wars and ~100 years of passed time. I’m sure if we had more to share we would, but they’re one of the rarest variants and cost a pretty penny when you manage to find one for sale. Norme just posted about a Full Rig at auction on GB earlier.
|
Don made a good point about reading the archived posts. I have read ALL the archived Navy posts both on this forum and Jan Stills', making notes along the way. I learned not only about Navy Lugers but also about the forum members, some of whom have unfortunately gone to that great gun room in the sky.

Navy Lugers are on my "some day" list. Just don't have the disposable income to throw at them yet. I think they're the best looking Lugers.
|
If you wait until someday it will not happen. When an opportunity comes up just be prepared to pounce. They don’t come up for sale very often.

Maybe now you can change the title of your thread? Just leave out the "no". You can edit the title if you wish, go to edit, then "go advanced", this should allow you to edit the title. |

It’s my only Navy and I think it has been reblued, considering how purty she is.
|
Douglas, I have an Imperial Naval boarding cutlass mod. 1911 marked to the II Torpedo division!
Gunguy, Find a nice Odin Naval stock for your pistol! |
Whoever reblued it at least had the decency to keep the strawing. Will make for a nice range toy!

This was my collection back in 2014, it's even larger now.

Norme, I guess it is about 8 O'Clock

Thankfully there is some interest in Navy Lugers. I only have one 08 that I have never shot and probably never will. It is all matching so that fear of breaking a part has kept it in the safe.
Keep posting guys. I like see what you guys have. |

I also have only one Navy, 1906 First Issue Altered. The stock doesn't match but the rig is in pretty decent shape.

I like the Navy Lugers best of all the different versions just sad that they are now way out of my budget. Thanks to all you Luger guys for sharing your vast Luger knowledge that has enabled me to learned so much. Blessing, larry |
Pretty decent shape! I should say so! Very nice.
|
Good thread. Norm, nice pic of the collection. Always good to add more. I hope to have a holster and mag pouch for my collection someday.

Wondering aloud here, would Mrgunguys Navy be a good candidate for Thor's rebluing using the orig. rust blue process? Are the numbers matching? Thoughts, opinions?

Hi David,
I wouldn't touch it. It doesn't look that bad now and it certainly won't get any more collectible. Remember, originality is like virginity, once lost it's gone forever. Norm |
Ron, your picture, and the Navy, is superb! I love the depth you created with layering making it almost 3D in depth. Love the pic, love the Luger.
