Eric,
I have six more in "ready" reserve. One of each front/rear sight type combination of the 1917's; spares of the '15 and '16; Black and red 9 grips; and my shooter is a 1914 Erfurt(reblued:mad:). I'm looking for "double date" Artilleries now, so if anyone has one for sale- please let me know. Here is the squad. |

This is my 1917 DWM Arty. Eric, you'll be interested to know that my "Luger virginity" was lost in 2011 when I acquired this example from a RIAC auction (It was also the first pistol I ever owned!).
Original finish, all matching, and in wonderful condition--but you'll note the ubiquitous "million dollar chip" on the left grip...and also the missing stock lug. I got an appropriate chunk of frame from G.T., which is awaiting its chance to be sectioned and welded to the gun's frame so I can use a stock with it again. |
Dave, She Is Beautiful~You will always remember your first and may try to forget your last!!! G.T is my hero and has repaired miracles for me. I owe him much more than just money!

Just in case it got mislaid/separated, George had a second page for that LP08. Probably not much, just the 'bringback' paper information, and maybe some personal information about James Anderson, the vet who brought it back. ;) |
Sorry that is the only page I still have! I'm lucky to have that! I sure George would be able to address any concerns~

I keep running across part numbers, scribbled notes addressing issues of something or other, and phone numbers/URLs/street addresses of companies that I have no idea what they are for... :( My browser address book contains names I no longer remember...Who are these people??? I don't know... |

Jan has 2 both DWM page 224 and 225 in Weimar Early Nazi Lugers!
|
Richard you are brilliant! Don't become an internet junkey because none of them are generally as smart as you! Many bad leaks! Thank you for your valuable input!!!

Here are the only two DWM artillery as appeared in Jans' Weimar masterpiece!

On Page 204, Jan has a list of Navy marked Weimar lugers, of these some 30 are Navy marked artilleries. I have added a couple more from observation.
Mine is a 1917/1920 N 1303: |

Yes, Bill- the Navy backstrap marking is etched and was applied some 10 to 15 years after the luger was made.
Navy gripstrap markings were applied by several navy entities, Nordsee and Ostsee on these artillery models, Wilhelmshaven and Kiel on earlier ones during WWI, and maybe others. |

Or because the original rack number was 30 and the later armory added the 1 and second 3? It's always interesting to poke around in threads I don't have a Luger for... :D |
Its definitely 100% legit. This was the late Weimer period and they were slapping pieces together with whatever they had left over from years of war! Different parts, dies and etc scrapped together!. These weren't Kreighoffs~They were desperate and the last thing they would be concerned with would be perfect proofs! Common sense my friend~ Its real and a valuable piece of proud German Weimar History~
|
The back strap markings are pantographed. On a curved surface it is difficult to get the cutting tip to contact the surface consistently. The shape of the 3s appear generally to be the same, it is just that the left side of the first 3 is cut shallow/incomplete. Just my opinion.
