I didn't think the TV coverage would be very interesting, but I'm getting sort of caught up in it. :)

I'm watching CBS. The usual blowhards and wannabe experts but they seem to be chalking up the electoral votes as they mount up rather than projecting states before all the returns are in.

I did my due diligence months ago; researching candidates (local and national) to see who agreed with my esoteric views on government and made up my voting booth 'cheat sheet'. :thumbup:

It turned out to be pretty much worthless. When I actually got into the booth and started filling in the circles, it soon became apparent that I was voting straight across the board. An elective 'flat liner'. No deviations whatsoever. :rolleyes:

I don't really have any confidence in the presidential race. My only hope there is that both parties come up with better candidates four years from now. :evilgrin:

In our North Carolina state elections, there has been a shift to the Republicans in the council of state. We look like we'll also maintain our super majorities in the legislature - both house and senate.

The Governor race is too close to call but the Republican is ahead.

The state was just called for Trump.

It's interesting to see all the pessimistic pro Clinton news spokespeople suddenly start sounding neutral (they way they should have been all during the past year)... They still can't help themselves though, putting lots of emphasis on how the uneducated are voting for Trump.

Best of all, all the polling is turning out to be inaccurate. I suspected that this might happen since all the more conservative people I know don't bother to pick up the phone and talk with the pollsters.

We are about to live in "interesting times"...

I, for one, am enthused, encouraged and energized by the election results. So much so that I'm off to the rifle range to enjoy one of my favored freedoms.

Both our governor race and attorney general race and the supreme court in Nc have shifted to the progressives by a narrow margin. There will be delays and recounts on te governor race.

All of this looks like it was the result of the NC "Bathroom Bill". They literally may have flushed their candidacies down the toilet..

Tonight is the Eastern Illinois Gun Club monthly dinner and meeting (in the "no-stoplight" little community of Porterville, IL and my shooting range and fishing hole). There is going to be a whole lot of beer and BBQ consumed tonight. The membership is mostly "deplorables" that cling to our guns and religion.

That said, I am more happy that Hilary got defeated than I am that Donald got elected. :cool:

I thought the CBS mouthpieces were overly optimistic about Clinton. They started the coverage at 7:00pm and they were smugly confident that the Clinton machine would carry the 'battleground' states. Then, at about 1:45am, they were at 215/244 with Trump in the lead and five 'battleground' states remaining (plus a couple others they had ignored all evening) and they were making noises about a Trump victory as inevitable. :rolleyes:

The justifications they were bringoing up were ludricous. Single middle aged illiterate white suburban housewives swung the vote for Trump! Right! :thumbup:

That is exactly my sentiment. This was one of those election where you had to pick your poison, but I still think the outcome was to the better.

Being involved in Second Amendment issues, I'm used to being on the negative prejudice side of the "free and neutral press". John Lott has documented it thoroughly in his book "The Bias Against Guns".

The press and polling organizations have quite a bit to answer for, and particularly their behavior during this election cycle.

Instead of blaming a large number of factors (now including supposed racism, low education of the electorate and other "deplorable" accusations) they need to do some self analysis and look into the quality of work that they are actually doing.

It's easy for members of the press to just plain not do their jobs. They buy into unsubstantiated ideas that they like, block out ideas and discussion that challenges their fake positions and generally behave in a lazy and unreliable untrustworthy manner.

A critical analysis of the supposedly neutral talking heads video footage recorded on Monday and on Tuesday morning versus their footage recorded after about 10PM EST Tuesday will show more excuses and speculation than facts.

There are good reasons we no longer trust the "fourth estate"...

Gentlemen, This turned out almost exactly like President Reagan's election. The "silent majority" stepped up and corrected the error. Now at least we have a chance to be the great Nation the World needs. President elect Trump has his work cut out..a long row to hoe. Let us pray that he will try to emulate President Reagan.

Exactly right, Jerry. Reagan as I recall was not viewed as a Conservative when he took office... that "Hollywood" thing.

I can tell you'all that I find that the sun is shining brighter at my house then it was on Monday. I am elated to maintain the House and Senate, plus take the White House. Trump said he would reverse ALL of O'bummer's executive orders, which will aid the gun folks and others. I could not be more pleased with what we(America) accomplished last night. Now, if I could get rid of this headache!!

Hey there, old white man, racist, misogynist, uneducated, xenophobic, anti gay-trans-lgbt deplorable(did I miss anything?)here. I have been called all of these things and I vote. I voted for God, the Constitution and the Supreme Court.

I watched CNN at ~noon today, they were lamenting that Trump won because too many voters stayed home and didn't vote...Hispanics, blacks, the uneducated...My local station (a CBS affiliate) reported that voter turnout was greater (75% vs 70%) than the 2012 election... :confused:

"Exit polls"...Now the talking heads are saying that voters gave misleading information when they left the polls and were interviewed...Nobody was asking questions at my polling place...I visited another polling place (a library in the nearest city), still no interviewers... :rolleyes:

Where were all these 'exit polls' taking place??? Certainly not in my predominantly blue collar neighborhoods...

Why would anyone lie about how/why they voted??? I would be happy to elect a woman president - I think Sarah Palin would have been a viable candidate, if she had had four or eight years as vice with McCain as president...

Now they're talking about Trump structuring a third party separate from the Republican party...I say, good on him! ;)

I would also like to see more independent newscasts. I am amazed that i see the same stories and SAME footage on two different stations.

We can sympathize with their problem... Their advertising revenues have sunk to the point that they had to eliminate much of their staff - including a number of very competent journalists. They probably pruned away the expensive (and competent) ones, and kept many younger, more inexperienced and more socially relevant appearing reporters. You know - the ones with less experience to base their judgement upon...

Now - what to do! We press outlets have their image to uphold and their legacy to protect.

Unfortunately, like much of the progressive politicians' smoke screens, American workers - voters with a stake in the economy and their communities - can see through all this.

Just as the lies the press publishes and the progressives tell about the Second Amendment are proved false by gun sales, the lies the press publishes about conservatives have been proven by President Elect Trump.

I feel like we've dodged a bullet, but that the shooters are still out there, biding their time. Let's get the Supreme Court issues wrapped up for the rest of our generations, and get on with responsible governance. As a Second Amendment oriented fiscal conservative and social libertarian, in truth, nobody in public office really represents me. I have to take the good where I find it...

If you turn it around, they're saying that Hilary's supporters are predominantly those who are so lazy that they can't even drag their behinds to the booth.

Personally, I believe it's just BS excuses anyway. Like you say, the turnout is proof enough that this is what the people wanted.

CNN is very biased in this election.

I learned a new 3-character Chinese noun on wenxuecity.com (a misc website). The noun has been used to label CNN frequently in the past due to they liked pointing fingers on many world affairs. Not sure there is a direct English translation... by meaning, it's "a whore pretending to be Holy Mother of Christ".... Well, Beijing must like CNN on US election,,, at least, not labeling CNN this time.

In fact, if it weren't for New York City, we also would be red [source: Buffalo News]. IMHO, NYC should be a state all by itself. Did you know that new York City has more people than NINE US states combined??? :eek:

Just read some Yahoo News reporting riot in Portland OR. That's a little bit surprising to me -- is Portland a big city with many liberals?

Another news reported that Trump reconfirmed that he planned to deport 2 to 3 million undocumented immigrants who have criminal records. This number is astonishing. If I remembered right, there are 12 million undocumented immigrants, and 25% has criminal records????!!! If he does this not in a controlled way but in big hurry, there could be a danger of causing social unrest in some cities.

Let's take a deep breath before we start hyperventilating about what could be.

There are checks and balances that prevent Trump from being too radical, so it won't be any kind of overnight revolution. Some doomsday prophets obviously think that he's going to pack them all into cattle trains and send them south, but that won't happen. It all takes time, and new ideas take longer. If too many think it's too controversial, it may not happen at all. Just look at what happened to Obama's great vision of gun control, and you'll see what I mean.
