SS Stamp

This is a WWI style construction holster if I am not mistaken. There are apparently no maker's markings on the back of this, just the purported SS stamp, with which I am unfamiliar. Pics are not good enough to spot any faint maker's mark. My suspicions are that the stamp is bogus. Does anyone know if it's legit or a decent holster ruined by boosting?

Looks like a bogus stamp to me. Theres too many items out there with SS markings added to them
to try and boost value. SS items are rare as hens teeth, Stamp also looks very fresh IMHO.

Arizona Slim 08-16-2016 01:10 PM

While no expert by any stretch of the imagination I agree that the SS stamp appears to be too fresh to be authentic but I do not agree that the holster has been ruined, assuming it can be had for under $100. Just my two cents.

How sad. A nice holster has been sodomized.

John Sabato 08-16-2016 02:22 PM

As Ron says... a perfectly good holster in great condition ruined by greed.

wayne8661 08-16-2016 02:41 PM

Like Lon Said if you can get it for cheap its still worth it. But guaranteed someone will drink the cool aid and pay way too much for it.

And ignorance. A most dangerous combination.

thats not what he said :D

A holster for a decent price I would buy, then take the marking out by rubbing or the like. But the price of the holster would have to be worth it, AFTER you did that :)

Edward Tinker 08-16-2016 05:34 PM

Kurusu - hah hah

yes, I think for what we consider a PG forum, that our usually stoic Ron just said something I have never had to explain to my daughter :) Oh, i don't have a daughter

mrerick 08-16-2016 05:50 PM

Somebody "freshened" it up by dyeing a brown holster black, too...

If you did and she watched the third episode first season of "Mr Robot", she would have seen it onscreen... :(

I thought that show might be interesting...but that episode turned me off of that show forever...

My sincere apologies to the members of this forum for my vulgar observation. I try to refrain from crass remarks but sometimes my opprobrium outweighs my better nature. In particular the use of a "SS" marking really gets my hackles up.
Again, my apologies,
Ron

On TV, Terry Bradshaw says that one in three people will get Hackles in their lifetime. Terry says if you had chicken pox, the Hackles virus is already inside you. My doctor gave me a Rx for a Hackles shot. I don't know if it will do any good or not. :(

Ha, Seems like Ron is being Hackled quite a bit this evening.

Ron Wood 08-17-2016 01:45 AM

You guys do know what hackles are...or maybe not?

I always think of them as on a "chicken", but then anyone can get their "hackles" up if confronted with certain situations, like faux SS markings. ;)

NOUN
(hackles)
1-erectile hairs along the back of a dog or other animal that rise when it is angry or alarmed.
(hackles)
2-a long, narrow feather on the neck or saddle of a domestic rooster or other bird.
3-a steel comb for separating flax fibers.

I have to admit I did not know about #3. :)

Kurusu,
Great Picture!

Change the battery in your hearing aid Rich... :roflmao:

Terry Bradshaw is talking about SHINGLES and not the roof type... My neighbor had them around his eyes! A gruesome affliction.

Hackles, shackles, shingles, Pringles...All are bad for you! :grr:

I actually have two sets of CROS hearing aids; they are pretty much useless except for watching TV...Leave it to the VA to give a disabled vet something useless...

Can't take credit for the picture, it wasn't me who took it. Just found it as a good example. :o

PS you already know I'm not a good photographer. :D

Rich,
That is almost poetic as well as marginally profound. Be careful or you will be labeled as the "Luger poet laureate" :D

As for the VA giving a disabled vet something useless, I beat them to it...I was already useless.:crying:

There's part of a dog showing on the left of the picture. That's what riled the cat.

Me, I don't frighten animals if possible. Even those I'm hunting.:D

I wish people would take the time to "Google" a word that they don't know the meaning of before they try to use it.
It would save a lot of misunderstanding and time.
Sorry. Just my penny's worth of help.

"Google" a word that they don't know the meaning of." Most people know the meaning..even if they don't know the meaning..If you know what I mean.

It would take one heap of rubbing to get this one out. That's pretty much slammed in there. I think you would end up ruining the holster before you got those runes to disappear.
