I found this in Dads old box of stuff!. He served during the end of WW2 on the USN Thorn~ Tks Eric

It's the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. It's reserved for junior personnel and is awarded for "meritorious service or achievement in either combat or noncombat situations based on sustained performance or specific achievement of a superlative nature but which does not warrant a Commendation Medal or higher" per the DoD description.

Thanks Bill, I can be proud! Eric! I found one more~

National Defense Medal; awarded for honorable service during a time of national emergency (including war, of course.) And yes, you should definitely be proud of your father's service.

Eric
I'm really glad for you, I bet you must be dead proud of your father. Those are most definitely nice things to keep. Sergio |

Cheviot Hills Military Academy, perhaps? Just a wild guess on this one, Eric.

Great reference, During law school At Villanova I lived in Wayne, Pa. outside of Valley Forge academy and was very impressed. They filmed a movie there where the cadets took over to avoid closure! I have several US Army Air Force uniforms including an original flight suit belonging to D.C, Jones of the Joints Chief Of Staff that I paid $78 on ebay. I really love the military everything. I will do some further checking. Thanks for you kindness~~Eric

Bill I found another 'Castle Heights Military Academy" Either one!!! TKS Eric

Eric,
The Navy Achievement Medal and the National Defense Medal are both post WWII creations. Link to NDSM: http://www.afpc.af.mil/library/facts...et.asp?id=7803 Link to NAM: https://awards.navy.mil/awards/webap...2?OpenDocument It is possible the NAM is for an action that occurred in WWII and was awarded later. You can request your fathers military records form the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis. Link: http://www.archives.gov/st-louis/mil...out-ompfs.html Good luck! G2 |
Thank You so much! I will contact your sources~Eric

I've been collecting US stuff (and a smattering of Third Reich) for years. I've only recently gotten into Lugers, though.
Some random photos of the collection... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...210_195536.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...210_195601.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...302_193521.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...219_161936.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...inVA/case1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...linVA/haub.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...an%20table.jpg |

AWESOME~Is there anything you don't own. Proud to have you as a fellow member~ I would like to donate this for your collection. A shell dressing from Australia December, 1943~It sat in my closet forever waiting for you to show up!~~ Eric

:) Yes, there's a lot of stuff I don't have; I have to convince my wife of it each time I get ready to run off to Louisville for the Show of Shows. (If it matters, a MAT49 bolt has been at the top of my list for several years now. Apparently they're more rare than Hitler's mustache.) As for the shell dressing, I appreciate your kindness!

What an interesting and thoughtfully organized collection, Bill !!
The gun rack has some very interesting pistols displayed ! |
She must love you!! Your most valuable friend indeed! PS Do you need an heir?

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I certainly appreciate the kind words, Eric and Mac Cat.

Bill, Its an honor to share your passion with all of us! Please take an active part and add or correct assumptions. Feel free to enter or start a discussion. They say that history is the last book written. I know for certain the last book isn't all the best. We daily try to add or correct our own. Nothing but the ten commandments are written in stone and that was the second set! Eric
