Carrying the Second Amendment to a new level

Brantley Gilbert displays his new ink... As big a proponent as we all are regarding our 2nd Amendment Rights... This guy carries it to the extreme... I would think a nice poster on my wall would have been sufficient, or perhaps an album cover? But a PERMANENT sign on my back? I think not.

oh, you are so old school :)

I guess my 4 tattoos are too small though to say much, but my son has one on his back of an American Eagle about half that size :)

cirelaw 05-06-2015 09:04 PM

They are not like a wife!! You can't get rid of them through a divorse! Names are most troublesome!! I would tattoo 'Eric" so when I get old or have another stroke, It will be easier to find me pushing a shopping cart in some vacant parking lot humming some old Grateful Dead or Jerry Garcia's forever lasting guitar solo or maybe "In a gadda da vida" We survived this far!! The rest is cake!!! Eric

ithacaartist 05-06-2015 11:50 PM

Eric, you are extremely correct. Check out the stylings of the work directly above the "Amendment"... At a glance, it is an amorphous design. Look closely, and you'll see it is a cover-up--trying to hide what was inked originally: "$H!TF@CE". LOL!

tomaustin 05-07-2015 12:00 AM

and i do believe you are correct sir...............

Zorba 05-07-2015 01:12 AM

That mess at the top really needs to be lasered off - but the new/main section is pretty well done, albeit not perfect.

I can guarantee you that that script on the lower back hurt a LOT! BTDT...

kzullick 05-07-2015 07:53 AM

My backside is so big right now I could probably get the entire bill of rights!

rhuff 05-07-2015 07:04 PM

I have gotten too old to appreciate "body art". What really gets me is the pretty young girls that have facial tattoos!! Put it on your butt or some place else....not your face.:nono:

ithacaartist 05-08-2015 03:37 AM

Sounds familiar. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...92765956,d.eXY

Sergio Natali 05-08-2015 06:51 AM

Admittedly that big tattoo is a bit of an exaggeration...

I run with a group of Goth Tribal chicks - but I've never seen one with a facial tat. I'm with you, not so good...

kzullick 05-08-2015 08:56 PM

Just curious, but what happens to the tatoo if he gains 50 lbs later in life?

cirelaw 05-08-2015 09:15 PM

Wear larger cloths?

kzullick 05-09-2015 09:37 AM

I meant does it distort?

I think it would depend on how much weight he gained. Just my guess, but if his weight increased by 50% his tattoo would likely become the 3rd Amendment; if he doubles in size it'd become the 4th, etc...

Effects of age!!http://www.xovain.com/skin/four-body...least-with-age Eric

I don't know about the entire back - but the lower back is considered one of the most stable locations for a tattoo - it doesn't fluctuate much in size with weight changes.

ithacaartist 05-11-2015 11:00 AM

And do we all remember the story about the man with the tattoo "T.I.N.Y."?

Sergio Natali 05-11-2015 12:03 PM

I don't want to judge in a hypocritical manner, on the other hand even John Basilone's tattoo said "death before dishonor" and apparently he lived by those word, still I do come to wonder why anyone would rather look like a gang member than natural person.
I really hate tattoos with all my hearth, and they surely look even worse on a woman, but as some people seem to love them so get them.
At least that enormous tattoo can relate to better than awful skulls all over.

Perhaps, after all, this is one of those things that make your Country great: the ability to do as you please and express yourself how you see fit.

In most circles, the small or lower back tattoo is considered the exclusive predilection of women. Guys who get tattoos here are usually assumed to be gay.

You know about "assume" - it makes an ass out of u and me! Yea, I'm a straight dude with a so-called "tramp stamp" - and I wear it proudly! But I'm a Belly Dancer, so I "can"!

But tattoos in general often turn even me off - skulls, death, and other ugliness. I like beauty - which is why both my tattoos are florals. But to each hir own.

Zorba 05-13-2015 06:42 PM

Uh-oh! I think I killed the thread! :jumper:

Mike B 05-13-2015 07:38 PM

Call me old fashion, but I am totally against any kind of body art. I was taught that my body was a temple of God and should be respected as such.

Mike

Zorba 05-14-2015 03:00 PM

To each his own. I like my temple to have some decorations - my Goddess doesn't care!

I remember the old Marines and sailors I knew as a kid and grizzled paratroopers I served with.

Nice meaningful daggers and skulls or "Death Before Dishonor" Airborne wings-the days when tats said you had been somewhere.

Just out of Airborne school and entering SF, a lot of us were giving consideration to some kind of decoration.
One of the first classroom orientations us younger guys were asked if we had any tattoos.
Those who did were advised to leave.
The cold war was still raging in 1967 and there was a chance some of us might get assigned UW to Europe where missions were actually run in various denied areas.
Point was that if taken, our cover would not last very long with a nice red devil hanging from a parachute tat.
Most guys from my era did not ever get any.
Today they are covered with them. especially the wierd tribal stuff they never earned nor were exposed to. Or the oriental jive nobody can read, including the wearer.

Most disturbing is the trend amongst youngsters towards self mutilation.
What's next?
I have run around with a pretty hip crowd over the years since the military and even the more jaded are appalled over that.
Not sure there is support for lower back tats being considered very masculine.

Sergio Natali 05-15-2015 06:48 AM

For all the people that like "Gunny" I paste the link of a video in which he talks about tattoos.

Zorba 05-15-2015 12:34 PM

Gunny's right - as usual. There needs to be balance in all things, most tattoos these days are just too much. "Negative space is important." Most tattoos that most guys get are both overdone and ugly - women generally have better taste although they can overdo just as easily as the guys.

As for whether or not lower back tattoos are so-called "masculine", turn around 3 times and ask me if I care...
