A Reworked Artillery Question~
3 Attachment(s)
I have and today posted in my interesting post section the luger above.. I have a 1914 DWM artillery that was reworked in 1920. It then sometime there after early became a nazi navy. My questions, what was actually performed? Every part is matching. Would they mearly inspect clean up and reissued. I can't fine this actual process. Thank you all?

Eric, it's an Erfurt 1914 dated LP08. Nothing was done to it but stamping the 1920 property mark and then the unit marking.

I had thought maybe it was marked with the E/xxx markings or something similar. Very interesting piece! |
NOOOO..not Kriegsmarine marking. Reichsmarine, Weimar Navy.

Kriegsmarine - Reichsmarine..two different era's and never the twain shall meet is my opinion but if George Anderson says there is an overlap..who am I to argue?

You delete a lot of posts..trying to break a record? What's confusing about a conversation? Deleted posts leave out parts people are interested in following and the gaps make it confusing. Less confusing if you can just read along, sort it out and make up your mind from the information available. Besides, I have to click on all your deleted posts to read them..quit that! Most deleted posts have valid offerings but people delete them anyway..who knows?

Some threads just keep lingering on, long after their usefulness, dying a slow death...It's better to just put them out of their misery. In any event, Eric has an interesting "Nazi Navy" artillery Luger...Wherever the markings are from... :D |
You both my dere friends, history doesn't change! It only how its presented. I have a BA in History and a Doctorate in Law! I've done research all my life no matter how presented under what ever the topic. Its like luger treasure hunting. One topic itself opens more doors. We are talking topic that have history back over going back over 100 years. My sole pupose to post what is out there and have to spend between 4 to 6 hours sorting out the stupid stuff. I love you both and Thank You for your opinions and long friendship~ Eric

None~

The Anchor/M marking is Reichsmarine. Th Nordsee property number is Reichsmarine in all likelihood but was carried over into the Third Reich period and used on all Wilhelmshaven marked Third Reich pistols that were Nordsee marked. Third Reich Ostsee marked pistols that I have observed were all marked on the front grip strap. I have never seen an Ostsee marked Reichsmarine pistol.

The "1920" markings on the the LPO8 receiver and stock just indicate that they were part of the 100K small arms allowed to the German military under Versailles Tready restrictions. TH

Tom, I wondered if they did anything else other that applying the stamp. For example parts replacement or repairs that may result in mismatched proofs or serial numbers~ Were they all matching? Eric

Eric, If all the parts of your LPO8 are matching, it's probable that it was just marked "1920" without any rework. Although it's difficult to say for sure without seeing the markings on each and every part. Tom
