here's some of the holster, etc

I like it, looks like it has not been messed with. Doe the holster have a makers name or mark?

Maestro 10-12-2013 09:41 PM

I was told no markings. This is 99% DWM 1920 Commercial in outstanding condition. It was new-manufacture, post WWI and Not a military re-work. Serial number 731-o. Germany marked. 99% overall condition with bright strawed parts, no significant blemishes anywhere. Grips in as-new condition. Excellent commercial magazine marked Germany on base. 2nd Magazine is also excellent but no markings. Also commercial holster with takedown tool and punch tool.

Nice gun. I have one identical to that one, exect not marked Germany, all matching, ser. 311 o. Great shooter, as I use it often. I believe it is late 1924-1925 manufacture.

Maestro 10-13-2013 04:17 PM

is it common for the spare mag not to be marked? or the holster?

alanint 10-13-2013 07:08 PM

Commercial mags were rarely marked, other than the occasional "Germany", on the ones destined for the US market. Commercial holsters usually had a maker's mark, but as can be seen, not always, especially if they were producing for a larger house.

A really nice piece. How much is the asking price?

Ben M. 10-13-2013 08:48 PM

the grips seem like they may be more modern reproductions

The BB value of Excellent DWM of this variation is 1600. Not including the accessories. On book value, it's a byf 41/42 level Luger.

Maestro 10-14-2013 12:10 AM

Nicely done. Thanks.

What year was this pricing?

Sergio Natali 10-14-2013 04:03 AM

Nice like most of the "commercials", and probably a good shooter too!

2009. I bought a copy from Borders before they closed the door in 2010 or 2011. No need to buy another copy in 10-15 years. The book is a system, the real value of book is not absolute price listed, it reflects value relationship among guns. The system does not change frequently. When we say a gun being rare or common, the book gives very good measure. It reflects the value of same variation at different condition level. Of course, it also gives long term demand some consideration based on history.

Just for my knowledge, is the pin that holds the connecting pin between the front and rear toggle in supposed to be blued? I thought they were left in the white. What year was this changed? Thanks for the help.

On my instance, the pin head is white.

One possibility -- the more previous owner looked at this white dot on the blue gun, the more he disliked it, so a little bit touch up. Private gun owners doing that frequently in gun's tool stage.

Maestro 10-14-2013 03:45 PM

I'll see if I could post a better picture once I received the rig

lugersrkewl 10-14-2013 07:09 PM

What is the number on the takedown lever it doesnt look like a 3?

Ron Wood 10-14-2013 08:44 PM

I enlarged the image. It is a 3.

In case you are consindering to use it attachd to your new Commercial rig, be aware that this configuration is illegal according to the BAFT rules.

I'm sure that one of the Americans forum members can give you a detailed advice about this matter.

Oh, and congratulations for one of the best Commercial Lugers I've seen.

Douglas.

Maestro 10-21-2013 10:11 PM

thanks Douglas.. I didn't know; will do

Geo99 10-23-2013 02:49 AM

Can you even possess a stock if you don't own a gun that it can legally be attached to?

alanint 10-23-2013 07:23 AM

Yes, as long as you don't own a gun it can be illegaly attached to. ATF refers to this as the "intent to construct" an illegal Short Barreled Rifle, whether that's true or not.

Well, that's a nice excuse to buy an Artillery Luger and its stock - now THAT would be legal... and fun!
