value of Persian Arty

Gentlemen,

Any thoughts on the value of a Persian Arty Luger? Matching except mag, about 95% thinning blue. I'm thinking of finally letting it go.

Best,

Kyrie

Kyrie. I sent you a private message, Bill Hughes

I'll try to get some fresh photos this weekend. Until then there are some photos in the old owners' corner, under my handle ('Kyrie') in the folder named Artilleries.

Kyrie 01-18-2013 11:51 AM

Yup, that was the album.

I'll try to get good, sharp full right, full left, and full top. Also a shot of the magazine base.

I would be very interested in some more pictures. If not sold I would be interested if the price is right.

The Crown is the Persian Acceptance stamp.

The Farsi inscription says: Pistol Model 1314. The 1314 is the date in the Muslim calendar as distinguished from the Julian date we use.

I find peculiar that rear sight notch is not centered properly. Is this case with all Artillery Lugers?

DavidJayUden 01-20-2013 05:43 PM

Sig:
Probaby has a lot to do with the camera angle. What is startling is that the taller you raise the rear sight, the further to one side it goes. I believe that this is to take into account bullet drift caused by rotational forces, which effects the bullet more as it slows.
Or so I'm told...

Remember that Artillery rear sights offset as they are raised so you are not imagining This.

I now that but that is not what I am inquiring about.
This is machined offset in the metal and it stays like that regardless of position of the rear sight. Lowering or rising sight will not change rear notch offset. This is not optical illusion, here:

DavidJayUden 01-21-2013 08:30 PM

I vote that it an illusion because, if you look closely, the gun is tipping slightly away. toward its left side. Stand it directly up and the sight relief notch will look better.

If this helps any, here's a top view of a 1917 Artillery's rear sight. It looks to me that the notch is centered, but that the recess for the adjusting screw is not.
Regards, Norm

SIGP2101 01-22-2013 02:47 PM

I find another pics of non adjustable rear Arty sight. To me this one (V notch) looks pretty centered inside it's recess.

And this one too:

Wondering weather was it a reason for of-center V notch on that Persian or it was just a sloppiness in QC department of DWM. Another fact is that among these three 1917 DWMs we have 3 different rear sights configuration. Hmmm...

Kyrie... where the heck have you been? The south pole? Good to see you are still alive.... we haven't heard from you since 2004!

I thought maybe you had gotten out of collecting...

What have you been up to?

kind regards, -John

Asking prices have gone up.

Purely FYI, Persian Arty is now up on Gun Broker.

Hello.

I would like to ask for your opinion about the value of Persian LP08, no mag, no holster or other extras. Just plain LP08, matching numbers, by the pictures in very good condition.

Thanks.

This is tricky, because unlike a "normal" Artillery Luger that can be fitted with an original or replica stock, a Persian one requires registration as an SBR, if fitted with anything but an original Persian stock. I'd say that this makes the Persian LP08 unaccompanied by a Persian stock a bit less desirable than its DWM or Erfurt counterpart in equal condition.

Grimpo 11-04-2013 11:50 AM

So, that Persian LP08 I was asking for value estimate has been sold by EUR 4000.

Michael Zeleny 11-04-2013 12:00 PM

Works for me. I have three Persian rigs.

abukafura 11-04-2013 04:23 PM

I would also be interested in knowing the value of a Persian rig in today's market. I have a Persian artillery with an original matching Persian stock that I have been thinking of selling for some time now. I am not anxious to let it go and have not decided to sell it, but would like very much to have an idea of what it might be worth. It is in excellent condition, as is the stock.

Maestro 11-04-2013 09:45 PM

could you possibly post pictures?

LU1900 11-05-2013 01:40 PM

Hello , looking for magazine : some one know where avaliable ?
:surr:
Thanks

goldwing 11-06-2013 09:40 PM

ATF requirements

Mike, where do you get the fact that a persian arty must have a persian stock to be legal?
Bill
