I was fortunate enough to recieve a phone call last week from a buddy Stating that he knew a man who recently inherited two war trophies from his ww2 vet father.

The man does not want the rifles and after a quick phone I met the gentleman today.

He pull out a Duffle cut k.98 mauser and this 1910.

I dissassembled the luger and all number except the magazine match. There is some slight darkening on the triiger and safety lever strawing. An slight blemishing to the bluing it is not enough to make me think twice though,

The most interesting thing to me is that this weapon has not had a hold open installed.

My Dragoon marked 1910 has a hold open installed though.

I will post proper pics next week when hopefully the man accepts my offer and the deal can be closed.

Enjoy the pics That I can offer of the weapon now.

Unit marking

Norme 08-28-2012 11:53 PM

Congratulations Wayne, the gun looks all original to me and, as said earlier, it's a rare unit mark. Regards, Norm

Some pistols from Wuertemberg and Saxony didn't get the hold-opens.

Wayne..Congratulations..Yes..I would be all over that one.

cirelaw 08-30-2012 12:00 AM

There no feeling like your new luger for the first time. Its like unwraping your past. Make sure you take many pictures of your newborn, wallet size is preferable. It already has a name and allot of jeolous friends!

wayne8661 08-30-2012 09:34 AM

You know I wasn't even a Luger collector I mainly collect third reich militaria but since 2008 I have had 5 lugers fall in my lap. And 4 are not common 2 1910's with uncommon unit marks , a 1900 AE, an 1902 AE Fat barrel and the BYF 41. I really have been bitten by the bug and am now thinking about shifting to Lugers only. Hmmm what do I do? Lol

No Hold open installed ,all numbers except mag match.
Tried to get photos on alphabetic inspector? marks on frame under left grip.

Nice gun I am happy.

Anyone have any easy methods for removing hardened cosmoline?

Ron Wood 09-04-2012 11:55 PM

Acetone and elbow grease (but not on the wood!). That is a super gun. Congratulations.

wayne8661 09-04-2012 11:57 PM

Ron I appreciate the input on the acetone. I would have never tried it for fear that I would hurt the bluing.

Ron Wood 09-05-2012 12:01 AM

Follow up with a good gun oil. The acetone will remove all lubrication so you need to re-protect the blue. Again, nice acquisition.

Thanks for the tip Ron. It worked like a charm

Douglas Jr. 09-06-2012 09:43 AM

Wayne,

That's a great addition to your Luger collection.
Next step is to sell the militaria collection and focus only on Lugers!
Congratulations.

Douglas.

Wayne, THanks for photos of your nice "Field Hospital" marked luger. TH

wayne8661 09-06-2012 11:54 PM

Thanks for the compliments. Iam lucky to have tumbled on these item and I do treasure them. I seriously may consider selling off my collection to start a collection of ww1 and pre ww1 lugers, I do love my german militaria though. Maybe the right trade will come along who knows.
