1900 eagle 10077

All....... just came in posession of 1900 Eagle # 10077. Have looked in several books for the serial # range with no luck.. Anyone have any idea ? Can send scans. The 77 can be seen on the grip safety just outside of the wood grip. The 77 is stamped upside down on the locking lever. Bore is superb ! Jan ???

God bless........ Mike

Hey Ed...... here are some scans......

God bless........ Mike

Thanks Mike, I was teasing you a bit, a 'scan' is like from a scanner, while a digital image is just a picture ;)

Nice looking 1900

God bless........ Mike

Must be an early one........ to have 3 digits on the side plate. Low checkered thumb lever and narrow grip safety ?

The "77" on the side plate looks a little odd, but could be the picture, or the stamping itself. I do not have a 7 on mine to compare to either. As far as upside down on take down, mine is the same as yours. Grip safety apears buffed, look at upper corner. Also, 77 seems a bit larger than it should be. I would like to see a 1900 posted with a 7 in the # to compare.
Someone with more knowledge than me on early commercials will chime in I hope. John

Ain't got no 7's. No, a very late commercial. See lots of pics in Early Lugers, '1900 commercial'.

Guys...... aster looking closely at the serial number on the frame, it sems the 77 is a mite larger than the 100. Maybe they had a die with just the 100 and then used separate numbers to progress the serial numbers ? Opinians anyone ?

God bless.......... Myky

I would have no idea how to venture an opinion without photos from which to base said opinion.

Re-reading your post, you seem to be suggesting that the numbers are a mixed font all on the same line. Sounds fishy.

Mike shows the frame front serial number in the second picture in post #5. It looks like the numbers are offset/higher than the first three... not larger.

Here is my 1900 american eagle SN 8372. Maybe this can help out with the "7" issue.
