Mags

What do you fellows think of these magazines? What are they worth? Some dents on the bottoms, but well working. Unnumbered, no markings of sanding. The little dots are from the wool they are kept in.

I like them;I would pay $100 each delivered.

We need to see photos of the bottums to determine value.

Mags...

Hi Jussi16, Those are actually, pretty nice mags... I would be interested.. George is correct in that more pictures are needed to determine what you really have?? But, I'd let you decide the price, as I've never had much luck trying to say what someone elses stuff is worth.. I've a bit of stuff to trade.. Let me know, best to you, til...lat'r....GT;)

Here`s a pic more...

Steinar 05-31-2010 03:41 AM

Can't see any signs of grinding away the serial.. I would say about $150 each.

c3006 05-31-2010 08:08 AM

Im with Steinar $150 eaach.

Frank 05-31-2010 09:27 AM

FWIW, I'm also with Steinar :)

Edward Tinker 05-31-2010 10:07 AM

No offense guys, but $150 is way to low.

If there are no markings on them and original, then you can easily add $100 / each

I know you can get $200-$250 on the forums or ebay or gunbroker.

Mabe so ed,I sold this one here a couple weeks ago for $135 shipped. I didnt know unmarked bottoms brought that big of a bump. This is how we learn. thanks c

Clint, yours shows a number on the base.

I have found that these "commericial" blank bases sell for a premium...

Ed, fxo magazines are NOT "commercial"!!! After Mauser quit numbering mag bottoms after the U-Block of 41 byf pistols, Mauser shipped Lugers with blank aluminum or black plastic bottoms. They are proper for all Military Mauser Lugers post the U-Block. :)

jussi16 06-01-2010 04:07 AM

Thank you all! Seems they are a good "investment".

Thank you, that said, your last statement is the closer; They are proper for all Military Mauser Lugers past the U-Block.

Thus wanted by many folks...

Ed, absolutely correct! Very desirable. It's tough to tell from the pictures, but I like to see the mold parting line down the middle of the aluminum bottom.

jussi16 06-01-2010 02:32 PM

This is difficult, but I will try to take some more photographs. Not an expert with ...
:banghead:
Please tell me exactly from where to take the pics. Show me an example. I`m not a native english speaking...

Jussi, the left magazine has the mold parting line, I can't see the line on the right magazine. The line should go from th middle of the spine to the middle of the round section on the opposite side.

jussi16 06-01-2010 03:48 PM

Hey Frank!

When I get to take a better pic, you might see that the both mags have similar markings. The one on the left has some harder dents on it (the bottom pic). I took a good look at them under a bright light.
Just wait until my daughter has some time to help me with the camera :o

Sieger 06-01-2010 07:03 PM

Hi:

It may just be my 54 year old eyes, but the magazine in the photo looks like it is bent forward, slightly.

Does it fit and function in your pistol?

Sieger

Hi Bob, What you are seeing is spherical aberration. Lenses on snapshot cameras are not corrected for this, as it is only apparent in architectural and macro photography. It causes straight lines to appear curved. Regards, Norm

Mags...

I've looked them over pretty close, and I think they are very honest, and very nice.. Having said that, they are not mint.. The un-numbered fxo's are a desirable mag... tough to find before the internet.. But, they are around lately... I see a lot of nicer mags listed on auction sites for $200.00 to$250.00, but in tracking them from week to week, I see they seldom sell for that... $150.00 would certainly be the friendly price... $175.00 probably true value... Remember.. $250.00 to $300.00 will buy a stone mint one.. either aluminum bottom or Black Plastic... As for originallity, look at the rivets, perfect and not altered.. then, look at the blue on the bottom edge of the magazine shell... front & back... all there.. Nice mags... I hope i end up with'em...:jumper:.. Best to all, til...lat'r...GT;);)

re this type mag as correct for post U block military mausers - would that also apply to mauser banners or just for the byf ? ie would blank alum bottom mags be correct for a 41 banner in Y block ?

thanks
Bill
