Miniature C96s

4 Attachment(s)
On auction now. Not mine. Function like a full scale one. A little bit less than 3".

rolandtg 09-23-2009 10:53 PM

That's the biggest penny I've ever seen!

Ron Wood 09-24-2009 12:47 AM

Cristi 09-24-2009 02:16 AM

The auction says 2 5/8" barrel...a penny is ~.750"...that would make it ~6 1/2" OAL...about half-scale...

Quite impressive...although I don't recognize the cartridge...image is too blurry...

I can't afford it...alvin - buy it... ;)

Struggling.... I've cancelled my lifetime vacations for guns. I suffer in vacation and don't enjoy anything else anyway, not a problem for me. But other family members have different view on this. Where to cut extra corner without causing family trouble is a big headache..... hmm.... cigarettes.... hopefully this time I can quit.

=====

Quit smoking, and I will have my car running for another five years. It's 180K miles now, and have some issues, but it still rolls. As long as it can carry me from point A to point B, I can go with it. The air conditioner was broken but the summer is over. I just replaced 4 tires in Costco, that $$ needs to be recovered anyway. That's the plan. I told my brother never spending on car 3000mi checking, 10000mi checking, 20000mi checking.... oil change plus fixing on-demand is good enough....checking for what.... it's finally a throw-away item after certain mileage no matter how new the chairs look like, and junk yard paying by car's weight. He did not listen to me.

That C96 is a little beauty. The cartridge doesn't appear to be bottle-necked so it may be 9mm.

Too small...a 9mm would be ~1/2 the width of the penny...that cartridge is ~1/4 the width...I've never seen a 4mm, but possibly that...or maybe just a home-machined cartridge as well as the pistol...a .22 RF would be logical but maybe not correct in the builders mind...

I don't have a .25ACP on hand, but the little cartridge in the pics looks too slim and long to be .25...

There's a CostCo in Madagascar??? There's not even one here in WNY but they can open one in Madagascar???

alvin 09-25-2009 07:30 AM

Sorry, I misspelled it. Never been to Madagascar, but my place carries a similar weird name. Not sure the name came from which language. :roflmao: Probably Indian. But I will keep Madagascar there, for unknown reason, I like that name.

For the craftsman who can make this scaled model, creating a customized cartridge for display should be a piece of cake. If there were a mini clip, things would be better.

Q: is this thing considered being a firearm, FFL required? C&R? Or like airsoft no control?

I suppose you'll want a 20 rd detachable magazine for it... :D

alvin 09-26-2009 06:18 AM

No. What I chase is CORRECTNESS.

If it's a Schnell model, sure. For semi-auto model, no. Also, I am not fancy on a particular variation, all of them are equal to me. The most attractive one to me is the one that I don't have.

No one knows. I called them. No FFL required.

alvin 09-28-2009 09:54 PM

Who's the seller of these things? Not many people have these. Back a while ago, I saw a NAPCA member selling those, not sure coming from the same source or not.

Now I understand where the six-penny-length comes from. The text description says barrel length being 2 5/8", I misread and thought that's the total length. Full scale barrel is 5 1/2", half of that is 2 3/4". So half scaled miniature.

That thing is just too cool. I like :)

Ironically, this real one comes with matching stock was a little bit cheaper than the mini toy. Pix copied from German auction site. Sold a few days ago, 2100 EURO... roughly USD 3087

Miniature is another taste. Probably unusual.

Of course, in seasoned eyes, it's full of errors. The maker really should consult me before making this. But considering handmade and size, it's not easy. It's milled, not cast.

Baby flatside is here. I have to be honest -- it's better done than Chinese Taku Flatside (by government owned arsenal, 1920s)

I'm sure he regrets not seeking your advice...

It looks pretty cool!!! Does the stock actually attach??? Is the barrel drilled out & rifled???

How does she shoot??? :D

It's smooth bore. The round is dummy fitting chamber pretty well, but won't fire though, no powder inside. So no FFL required.

It's functional. Pull the trigger will release the hammer. I noticed the primer of the dummy round has a small indent at the center left by the previous owner. Obviously, firing pin works. Hold open by magazine follower works. Safety level works as well. The trigger cannot release the hammer after safety level is pushed down. But, unlike real Mauser, the safety level does not lift the hammer up.

The baby can be put into the wood holster, and the holster can be attached as well.

*Very* nice!!! I am impressed!!! :)

Now you must make fancy walnut display case... ;)
