Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons Ban
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=6960824&page=1
Now they're using the excuse that it's to help Mexico. What a bunch of liars. |
And is anyone surprised by this? The sad thing is that he is just warming up.
|
So let me get this right. If we ban guns here then the drug cartel in Mexico won't be able to buy them anymore?
That is absurd. It's just a damn excuse to pass their agenda. |
Write your congressmen and complain....
Most folks never follow through, they just talk (present company excepted). Ed |
Gentlemen, There is no reason to be surprised by any of this. In a Democrat controled government such as the one we now have ..no difference who you write to... they have the votes to do whatever they will. There will be no changing their minds..they will not listen to reason and will persue their agenda no matter how illogical. They are drunk with the power they craved and will not be denied. The people have spoken.
Jerry Burney |
so sit back and do nothing..... bad idea dude ;)
Email or write your congressman, even if Democrat, they listen to their consituents, not all dems are anti gun Jerry.... |
Ed, Don't get me wrong..I am not giving up. I do what we are supposed to do..give money and write Congressmen, am a member of the NRA.
I am just saying..do what you will, it's inevtable that these idiots are going after an agenda that cannot be stopped. Why? They control the House, Senate and have a Democrat President. Because they can, they will. That's why thousands are buying black rifles & pistols & tons of ammo. They KNOW it's going to happen. Obama has been instrumental in flooding the American market with black guns. We have lost any of the checks & balances we had. The sooner we all realize this and prepare for it the better. Jerry Burney |
I would advise anyone interested in gun rights to join the Gun Owners of America. They are leaps and bounds more proactive than the NRA sellouts that keep sending us mail flyers asking for more money.

Interesting article and comments from Holder. I guess we wont be able to go hunting with our automatic weapons and grenades anymore. Just more piling-on of excuses.
NRA, GOA, and JPFO are all good, join as many as possible. |
In my opinion, and personal experience, George Anderson is absolutely right about the National Rifle Association (NRA) being the only organization with the power and expertise to stop the erosion of our Second Amendment rights. These other organizations you hear about may be nice, but their record of measurable accomplishments is nothing compared to what the NRA has done and is still doing. Whenever I hear any gun owners being critical of the NRA I can only assume that they are not familiar with what the NRA is doing for us. For those of you who may not be members of the NRA or are otherwise not familiar with the NRA organization, please take a moment to review their website and become better informed. You will be glad you did.

I fully intend to increase the amount of my donations to the NRA and NRA-IL this year. I've already started.

I'm still a member of the NRA, however, I see alot of good in the GOA. I was just saying, the only way an organization becomes strong is through support, thats all.

Interesting I read this on main gunboards;

I don't think Madam P's will hold a lot of sawy with this crowd.
This ban and other forthcoming stuff was not concieved last week. They are moving about and lining up all their nasty little ducks. The damage these lunatics are going to do to our country will be unprecidented. Almost makes me glad I'm not young. I really wish somebody could make me wrong. But, Hey--it's for the children. |
The Speaker of the House has a lot of infuence, most members of congress do not cross them....
|
Pelosi and Reid have stated that Holder did not consult them about any AWB. Reid is pro gun and stated the bill will not hit the floor. He wants to maintain his pro-gun voting record. He also has a gun collection. Pelosi stated that we need to enforce the laws we have on the books already.
Man, you guys jump to conclusion rather fast. In politics, when someone says anything, wait a couple days to see reactions. I watch the news 8-10 hours a day and this was debunked within 24 hours. |
A reply from my Democractic Congressman , Pete DeFazio.
I've known Pete for a long time. He's a very honest and straight forward man. "Dear Ron: Thank you for taking the time to contact me with your concerns about legislation restricting your right to keep and bear arms. I appreciate hearing from you. In the past, there have been many threats to citizen rights under the Second Amendment. As a fellow gun-owner, I have always stood firmly with you in defense of the right of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. You will be pleased to know that there has not yet been any action on H.R. 45. You can be sure that I will carefully monitor any legislative activity in this area and will continue to fight to defend Second Amendment rights against further abridgement by the federal government. Again, thanks for your message. I hope you will continue to let me know your views on issues of federal concern. Don't hesitate to contact me if I can ever be of assistance to you." Sincerely, Rep. Peter DeFazio Fourth District, OREGON |
Reid has a gun collection? I didn't know that. Still, I'm a little suspicious about anything that comes out of Harry Reid's mouth. Just like when John Kerry showed up at that sporting goods store 2 elections ago asking, "Is this where you get a hunting license?"
|
Harry is progun and proud to be a firearm owner. Check his voting record. For a Democrat, I think he's a B-.

I am also glad to hear the Reid is a gun owner. I personally feel the key is to keep pressure on your own Congressman. Being from a strong pro-gun district in Wisconsin (as most districts are in Wisconsin, except for ther deep southern portion of the state), my congressman would commit political suicide by voting for an anti-gun bill in Congress. The president and the AG can wish for anything they want, but it is Congress that will decide. It is OUR job (and the NRA's) to keep these guys honest and let them know what we think and want. If we don't do this, we have only ourselves to blame for the results. I, for one, and going to be very active in the letter writing area. I can't do it alone....we all have to do our part.

Hi All:
Don't worry about your guns, as you will all either be bankrupt or taxed to death long before it would make any difference! This guy is a lift-wing socialist, and is not afraid to take advantage of the economic situation to push his agenda through Congress. Dems have a few recuring gripes: Abortion and Gun Control. Sorry, it's called "Gun Saftey" now! They are going to push their agenda regardless of the clear meaning of the second amendment, as their obvious ultimate goal is to cause the masses to depend upon them for both livelyhood and safely. Frankly, I don't know just what this country is going to look like after four years of this guy, but I do know that I'm not looking forward to it!!! Sieger |
Feds Send Mixed Signals On Push For Gun Control
On Wednesday, February 25, just over five weeks after Inauguration Day, Attorney General Eric Holder announced that the Obama Administration will seek to reinstate the expired federal "assault weapon" ban and impose additional restrictions. "As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Holder said. Based on Holder's testimony during his confirmation hearings before the Senate, those other "changes" presumably include prohibiting private transfers of firearms and banning most center-fire rifle ammunition as "armor-piercing." Holder said that new gun control laws are needed because in Mexico, a country with a history of corruption and disregard for individual rights, there's a shooting war going on between drug gangs and government troops, and some of the gangsters' guns have been illegally purchased in the United States. Few Americans are going to buy into the idea that the U.S. is responsible for internal problems in any foreign country, particularly one to which we give millions of dollars in aid, and in turn illegal drugs and illegal aliens flow freely into our southwestern states. Holder tried to sell his scheme by saying that "International drug trafficking organizations pose a sustained, serious threat to the safety and security of our communities," noting that law enforcement officers in this country have arrested more than 750 individuals on related illegal narcotics charges over the last 21 months. Atta-boy to our law enforcement officers for their good work in making drug gangs bite the dust. But it appears that Holder exaggerated the "threat" that they pose to the U.S. On Thursday, a Drug Enforcement Administration spokesperson told NRA-ILA that there is little incidence of Mexican drug gang members committing violent crimes in this country against Americans who are not involved in illegal activities with the gangs. Some Americans who have colluded with the drug-smugglers have not been so lucky, but for that they have only themselves to blame. Of course, ignored in the discussion was any mention that straw purchasing a firearm for a Mexican drug runner, and transferring a firearm to someone knowing it will be used to commit a violent or drug-trafficking crime, are currently federal felonies punishable by 10 years in prison. Holder was still enjoying the high (pardon the pun) that he must have felt from his media moment when Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) reminded him that it isn't the Attorney General who makes laws in the United States. Asked whether Holder had spoken to her before putting himself in front of the national news cameras, Pelosi said "no," adding, "I think we need to enforce the laws we have right now." Shortly thereafter, the office of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) stated flatly that "Senator Reid would oppose an effort [to] reinstate the ban if the Senate were to vote on it in the future." Speaker Pelosi and Sen. Reid were joined in opposing Holder by members of the bipartisan House of Representatives Second Amendment Task Force. U.S. Rep. and Task Force co-chair Paul Broun (R-Ga.) said "The Attorney General's recent comments about reinstating the 'assault weapons' ban are extremely troubling since a ban clearly violates our Constitutional right to bear arms." Co-chair Dan Boren (D-Okla.) added, "The Second Amendment Task Force is adamantly opposed to reinstating the ban on the sale of assault weapons as it clearly would demonstrate a violation of United States citizens' right to keep and bear arms." Other members of the Task Force include Democrats Jason Altmire (D-Pa.), Travis Childers (D-Miss.), Brad Ellsworth (D-Ind.), Jim Matheson (D-Utah) and Mike McIntyre (D-N.C.), and Republicans Rob Bishop (R-Utah), John Carter (R-Tex.), John Boozman (R-Ark.), Steve King (R-Iowa) and Steve Scalise (R-La.). Independently, Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.), an NRA Life Member, said that he would "oppose any action on behalf of the Attorney General or President Obama to reinstate the assault weapons ban." Unfortunately, Holder still has many options for ways to threaten the right to arms. As examples, he could force the BATFE to once again arbitrarily reinterpret firearm importation law, to further limit the kinds of firearms that may be imported. He could force the agency to discontinue its support of the Tiahrt Amendment, which protects both the privacy of gun buyers and the integrity of police investigations. And though the Justice Department has previously testified against the type of "armor piercing ammunition" restriction gun control supporters advocate today, Holder's DOJ could reverse course. Holder could also direct BATFE to adopt enforcement policies designed to drive licensed dealers out of business. And while Sen. Reid has a good record on many gun control issues, there is no doubt where Speaker Pelosi truly stands. She will support gun control, but on her timetable, not one provided her by the new Attorney General. As we expect to say a lot over the next four years, "Stay tuned." Is he going to start this again? Wow.... . . ... ..........

Obama and his minions have never stopped...
Notice how well these things worked in California last week: - Universal background checks including private transfers - FAIL - So called "Assault Weapons" bans - FAIL - Magazine capacity limitations - FAIL - Gun free protection free zones - FAIL - Nearby SWAT team (already in a training exercise 1 mile from the attack) - FAIL - Intelligence tracking of known ISIS adherents - FAIL - Dead and injured helpless victims in the minutes before help could arrive - FAIL What would have worked? It's not hard to figure out if you don't have a preconceived prejudice against defensive use of firearms... I've started advising everyone with a Concealed Carry permit to carry 100% of the time, and continue to teach the state's Concealed Carry Permit certification classes. The program to increase interference with the lawful 2nd Amendment rights of citizens is a current priority for the Executive branch of government. This is an anomaly in our system. No other element of the constitution is so consistently attacked. "Reasonable controls" over free political speech or religion? What about "Printing Press Control" and "Pulpit Control"? Ridiculous, but they still come time and again for our guns. I am on my state's pro-firearms lobby group's board of directors. The anti-gun zealots that I regularly encounter at the state house are often damaged by some tragic incident and sometimes mentally ill. They are very emotionally invested in their position, and quite motivated. I regularly make my position known to Federal, State and Local politicians with clear logical arguments. Sometimes they listen. I work to vote those that don't out of office. |

I troll non-mainstream sources for links to news. One item is that there will likely be an Executive Order to ensure that those on the "No FLY List" will be denied on the NICS check. If on that list, you have no recourse to challenge it as I understand, even having a similar name is reason enough to be on it as I understand.
I have also read that on a State level in Cali, there is momentum for declaring ALL semi-auto weapons as banned, with no Grandfathering or exemptions for C&R types. Any ammunition capable of penetrating "Ballistic Vests" will also be banned if possible. Considering the voting record in Cali, I think these measures stand a very good chance if introduced. You need an iron-clad ID to purchase a firearm and ammo there, yet it's TOO much of a burden to prove citizenship there to vote. :banghead: |
I still do not understand why we don't pass a law against shooting and/or killing people.
If we did so, none of this could happen. Right? How can such obvious disregard of a higher law possibly make even an idiot think.believe that any lesser "gun" law would stop a killer? More gun legislation will only create outlaws from law abiding citizens, JMHO. |
lets not forget how the 1st Amendment is suffering either!
