history on Lugers
All...... through the last 50 years I have always asked the vets and families that I have bought Lugers, P-38's, and Walthers from, any history that might come with the piece. In the next few weeks I will be posting scans of these on the Forum. Maybe some of you might have that particular piece. I have found that it's always nice to have the history on a piece I've just purchased ....... it just adds an aura to it, and generations down the line will at least know how it came to the states.....and who brought it. Myky@ctesc.net....
|
Myky,
Ed Tinker, who is the technical guy behind this board, has published a book on just that subject. I recommend it even though one of my former pieces is depicted in it. Tom A |
Thanks Tom, yes, there are several of my "former" pieces in it too, darn collecting hobby anyway ;)
Ed |
Tommy and Ed...... thanks for your replys ! I had an importers license during the 70's and 80's and brought back many Lugers and Walthers during that time.. like 1900 Swiss number e- 614, and an unrelieved frame 1900 that came from the original owner, the father of Gaston Poyet, the Swiss gun dealer from Bern, etc...... all of those will be put forward on the forum, along with a high leader PP. Just some of the several that will be shown. Original documents only will be shown in color so that the owners can down load them. Since I don't own them anymore, the present owners can put them with thier guns. Just hoping to help the fraternity at no cost to them......
|
That sounds like a great gift to us all. I look forward to seeing those documents on-line

Tommy/Ed....... here's the 1st of many. I guess I'll start here as this is where I opened this thread. If you feel that different variations need to be placed elswhere, can you do it for me ? This one is for serial # 7, postwar Krieghoff, which came from David Clyde Elder, the 1st military governor of Suhl. I recieved the Luger, his uniform with all his medals attached, the sword of Suhl, and numerous other items from him. I have pictures of all these if someone cares to ask.

Hey Mike!
What was the serial number of the unrelieved frame 1900? Probably isn't the one I have but what a hoot if it is! (I have #109). Ron |
Mike,
Thanks so much for posting these letters. History is the main reason I (we) collect. This just adds to the story these guns have to tell. You are one of the good guys!! Jesse:) |
1900 un relieved frame
Hi Ron ! I think it was 294 but I've got a whole lot of documentation coming up with all those serial numbers. Hang tight till I get there.... I'm having trouble uploading scans.... don't know what's the problem unless the forum limits me in some way.... I'll keep trying as I have sooooo much to upload..

history
Jesse....... thanks bud..... I've been there, searching like you, for over 50 years and know how you feel. So many collectors hoard thier info, and it deprives the upcoming, beginning, collectors of the knowledge we have accumulated. This hobby will die on the vine unless we share to the younger guys...... I will keep on posting facts..........
