Very, very, very nice work!!!

Ron Wood 09-17-2008 12:09 PM

Absolutely beautiful! One small comment...there is no step in the barrel of a conehammer, unless the barrel has been replaced. The step is found on a Model 1930.

John Sabato 09-17-2008 05:39 PM

Vladimir,

Your graphics work is absolutely amazing!

alvin 09-17-2008 05:54 PM

Absolutely cool !!!

It will be even better if the front sight could be drawn higher..... low profile front sight only appears on fix sight CH.

Best drawing that I've seen so far!

=====

If I could find a CH in this pristine condition, I will be ALL on it.

The dude can do some serious CAD!! I am impressed! I especially like the CAD of the 20-Shot Cone Hammer, one of which I have in my collection.

Fabulous,
Albert

P.S. Typical! - Ron had to make a comment, but the ring on your diagram does not show on the surface. However, for accuracy, the ring should be eliminated.

alvin 09-17-2008 08:55 PM

This CAD (computer product?) drawing indeed paid lots of attention to details, including the polished frame edge between the grip and lock frame lug in the 2nd picture! The rear sight pin and the top of rear sight ramp are not blued either.

I assume the trigger in "white" being correct.... some color pictures in Erickson's book showing strawed trigger, but all instances (standard CHs) that I've met so far do not show any trace of golden color on triggers. Maybe too old to keep that color (less likely because the whole trigger assembly, inside out, is in white), or maybe there are some sub-variations.

Most of you new guys on this forum are impressed by Vladimir's ability and rightly so, but what makes his graphics so much more impressive is that living in Russia, he has no chance to own the guns he draws... the drawings are created from his engineering imagination from studying other drawings and photographs...and blueprints when they are available.

to see other examples of his work, do a search of the forums for other posts he has made. He has been kind enough to share all of his previous work with us...

Thanks again Vladimir.

Makarov 09-18-2008 04:36 AM

Thank you all for good words.
Ron I understand comparatively M30. My 3D-model Cone Chammer has not this. This ®¯²¨·¥ª¨© dog-leg.

Too few persons wanted "papers" in 1945. Looks like almost everyone rushed to "hardware". It's too late to regret for their near-sightness.

I have not seen any complete dementional drawings of C96 nor Luger. It will be great work in this area, probably via reverse-engineering. Lots of work, thanks for the effort.

Hello Vladimir,

With the superb CAD which can create, you could easily find a very high paying job in Europe (likely with a major arms manufacturer) if you could 'escape' from Russia. You have some brillant talent which is hard to find.

Great work,
Albert

Send me an e-mail to imperialarms@att.net and I shall send you some images of my 20-Shot plus a few other Mauser C96 pistols - that should keep you busy!

Here is my virtual 20-shot ;)

Makarov 09-20-2008 11:29 AM

Today I has seen this link about Mauser 20-round magazine.
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=110686403
Anyone can write a letter a seller and ask to take photographs this pistol? This was very big help for me.
Thank you.

alvin 09-20-2008 01:33 PM

Vladimir -- I'm lost. You must be interested in very specific area.... the seller posted a few pictures in his advertisement. If you could be more specific, I could send him a message asking for help (help or not will be up to him, I am not bidding on his item, but there are various kinds of people in the cyberspace, we never know).

alvin 09-20-2008 09:47 PM

Sent Mr. Martin an invitation to this thread. If he's curious about "What are they talking about my gun", he will come. :)

Makarov 09-20-2008 09:52 PM

Thank you.
Was much splendid, if Mr. Martin has done many different photographies of this pistol.
Ideal variant - to place on the scanner and do a many scene of each detail.
I in the same way can do some beautiful 3D-jpgs for Mr. Martin - for the advertisment of its pistol.

Ron Wood 09-20-2008 11:01 PM

Vladimir,
I understand that there is no "dog leg" like the Model 1930, but on a conehammer there is no "ring" or "step" in the barrel. It is a smooth transition. The photo that I assume that you used for your 3D drawing has had the barrel replaced so there is not a smooth contour. The barrel should look like the bottom re-touched image:

20-Shot Cone Hammer for Mr. Martin

Makarov 09-20-2008 11:12 PM

Ron
I understand and complies with you.

alvin 09-21-2008 11:35 PM

The stock in drawing needs to be modified to fit the 20-shot gun.

Surprisingly it took Mauser more than 30 years to realize removable magazine being the way to go. Why did they stuck on fixed magazine well is a myth. Probably because the feeding system was boss' invention so it stayed. After Paul Mauser's death in 1914.... this still kept unchanged for so many years.

maduce50 09-22-2008 12:10 AM

Greetings, I have just joined your forum tonight. I am the person that has the C-96 fixed 20 round magazine for sale on GunBroker. As I understand it, Vladimir wants more pictures of my C-96. I shall email what I have.
Bill

Makarov 09-22-2008 12:34 AM

Bill
I thank You much.
Thank you

John Sabato 09-22-2008 06:51 AM

Bill,

Welcome to the Lugerforum! Hope you enjoy yourself here among fellow collectors.

alvin 09-22-2008 05:51 PM

Bill -- Sorry that I missed your earlier message from GB.... glad to see that you figured out how to get here. 20-shot Mauser is a super rare gun and surprisingly, two collectors (at least two! you and Albert) have it in this thread. I have seen it in books and periodicals, but have never seen a physical one. There are quite a few Spanish fixed magazine 20-shot pistols (Astra, etc) in a museum, but I did not see a Mauser 20-shot there. Since local people have never seen a real Mauser 20-shot, when they mention the adjective, the term actually refers to Schnellfeuer which was very common in the museum.

Welcome to the forum.
